Mormons are taught not question. Plus, I know quite a few. They don't know nor will they therefore believe all the things you mentioned in your above statement.Plus, Mormons hide their bad history. The Bible tells the good, the bad, and the ugly. The LDS can't say the same. You have to dig for the truth. Many of their own don't even know their own past church history and such.

While there may be some members who take offense at such comments, most of us try to be patient with those who post such things.
The real issue for me is whether the comments are true. I try to honestly respond to reasonable posts, but there are many partial truths, sensationalized "historical" facts, and other things posted that are simply not true. It is annoying that so many christians would knowingly post things that are not true or that they would do it in ignorance. It is even more frustrating, however, when people read the incorrect information and then agree with it, without a second thought or bothering to find out the truth.
Perhaps people should just post information responsibly in the first place.

the reason most statements, etc are considered bashing is that they're taken out of context, or are partial truths. we are unafraid of the truth, we embrace it. we acknowledge that Joseph, for example, was a man and was not perfect. But that does not mean he wasn't a prophet. Jesus Christ was and is perfect. And when Joseph was acting as the prophet, his teachings were pure and true.
Without a doubt, these men were mortal and I am sure that I would not have agreed with them on everything. But when they are speaking as the prophet of God, I will listen... if I doubt, then I will take it to the Lord and through the Holy Ghost, He will manifest the truth unto me.
Wanna get into history? fine. One of my favorite subjects. But don't expect me to be blinded by authors who have an axe to grind with the prophets or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Example: Did Brigham know about the Mountain Meadows Massacre? did he order it?
Despite recent movies and books, the answer is no, Brigham didn't order it nor did he know about it until after the fact. Before the rider for the local militia could reach Salt Lake for instructions from Brigham [who was the territorial gov & thus head of the state militia - this was not part of his role as president and prophet] and return [it's nearly 300 miles each way over mountainous terrain], the massacre had taken place and the cover-up was well underway. In ensuing years, I think that Brigham may have made a bad judgment call in the way it was prosecuted and swept under the rug, but that was in his role as gov -- not prophet, not president of the church.
BTW - we mormons also take umbridge when someone calls us a liar for defending our beliefs and clarifying other's mistakes or lies.
But, an honest discussion of history and doctrine is something many of us enjoy.
have a nice day.

Because they are usually taken completely out of context and very often untrue. Also many times they are presented as a bitter diatribe on why that person hate Mormons. Most times they really have a feeling of being posted with spirit of anger and hatred towards the LDS church.
Really be honest- do you post your Mormon Questions for the purpose of learning more or do you do it out of hate and anger? Be honest- call a spade a spade.
When people pose questions and I feel that they are truly wanting to learn or are curious- I don't say it is bashing.

Inferred intent makes me think people are bashing -- also a lack of an honest listening ear when thoughtful LDS people answer the question.
When the question is actually a statement in question form -- this is often considered bashing.
Good Luck

Before I start I would just like to applaud ttreepark for her answer. In my opinion it is the best answer you've gotten thus far.
As for my answer:
I too love reading about our history. In fact I have a close friend of mine who is not a member of the Church who constantly looks up "hidden" or "bad" history of our Church and he brings them to me with a smile on his face. And so I research and research until I feel I've exhausted every avenue. And like ttreepark said the accusations are either taken out of context or are complete forgeries and lies or rumors from a third or even fourth party that did not witness the event.

Sure, if you're willing to do the same with your religion. I can understand what you're saying but much too often have I seen people bashing Mormons and on other questions where THEIR faith is being questioned, throwing a fit about it.
Peace

I have found Mormons to be every bit as ethical/moral as Christians! One could not have a better friend than a Mormon.
I find their beliefs to be closer to Judaism than other Christians.

We can usually tell who is asking a sincere question and who is just being antagonistic. It's obvious you have an axe to grind and I'm curious as to why. We are not ashamed about our history, warts and all. We do make an effort to combat the lies and inaccuracies spread by those such as yourself.

No No,
That is just to keep goons like yourself busy looking for those "inconsistancies"
That way you waste all your precious time fighting against something that you cannot stop. Then after all is said and done, you lay on your death bed asking yourself, where did my life go? what have I done?
Too late...

I don't know about the Mormons, but I disagree with your statement "CHristians know the flaws of their leaders, and know the ugly parts of their history."
One of Xianity's major problems is that they DON'T know the flaws and DON'T know their history.
