I recently (last tuesday) got a black a red ink tattoo on my right foot.Almost the entirety of the tattoo is peeling. Almost a full layed has come off. Is this normal? The color looks the same, except the red is noticeably lighter. and the skin is shiny. This is my second tattoo. My first is on my lower back and it did have few pieces come off, but it was on my back and I didn't notice it as much. Advice or experience please!

During the day I wear flip flops or open flats that don't touch it. The only time I ever have socks on is at night so it doesn't rub against anything in my sleep.

A friend of mine recently got a tattoo on the top of her foot. We both go to the same artist, and she (the artist) normally doesn't do feet. She reports that it tends to fade more than other areas - circulation, exposure, whatever - and normally prefers not to put her work there.

On the other hand, I believe somebody has a tattoo on her foot that looks fairly bright.

Regardless, your experience does sound fairly normal.

you shouldn't be wearing socks. keep wearing flip flops only. tattoos have to peel, it's part of the healing process. just keep putting whatever your artist told you to put on it and let it heal. it takes longer for foot tattoos to heal than other ones. generally a little more than two weeks.

That's perfectly normal. As it heals more, it will change texture to your regular skin texture. It is important not to peel the scabs. Keep moisturizing until the tattoo has completely healed.

Totally normal. My roommate had a tattoo on her foot done in August and hers peeled a ton, too. She is fine!

that is perfectly normal....yhe skin is supposed to peel.just make sure you keep it mosturized with aquaphor and non-fragrance lubriderm.as far as it being shiny....the foot on hands/feet reginerate.so the shininess should disapper as this occurs.you might need touch-ups every so often, ask your tattoo artist.but other than that make sure you keep it mosturized and clean and it should heal perfectly!

Yes, tattoos all peel. Since you see it, you notice it more. Keep it moist with unscented lubriderm and it should be fine. Good luck.

Your new tattoo is healing normally. Use bacitracin a couple more days, then, if you want, switch to hand lotion.
