it still costs a lot of money to collect recycling and as there is still waste no matter how much your recycle this incurs a cost. Mostly because there is a landfill tax for the amounf of biodegradable waste that is landfilled. This has to be added to the cost of collections.

As councils are not for profit organisations, when the whole cost of recycling and refuse collection and disposal goes down, so will the fraction of council tax that goes towards this....you'd also be suprised how little this is in comparison to other services!!!!!

Recycling paper does not even constitute a band aid for the problem. It is slide of hand. Certain paper board, (cereal and macaroni boxes), which are made from recycled paper are NOT renewable. They go to the land fill. The answer is a hemp industry. We are the only industrialized nation without one. If hemp was good enough for the rough drafts of the Declaration of Independence, then surely it is go enough for paper bags at the grocery store.
People will tell you that it is more expensive to make, but that is only true because we are tooled up for parchment.
This will reduce tree consumption, eliminate plastic grocery bags, and create thousands of new jobs. But, the lumber and paper industries will lobby strongly against it when they should be the ones to start it.
This has nothing to do with THC, and you can't get high from it. It is a textile raw material with endless possibilities, but the most free nation in the world is not allowed.

once the gov't gets $$ they don't give it back, that would mean a cut and we all know that anything less than the proposed increase is a cut and they don't want cuts.
more seriously though, recycling costs $. it is still a good thing to do, but don't expect to save or make $$ by recycling. there is the cost of equipment -to pickup, transport, sort, breakdown, reconstitute, etc, there is the cost of human labor -to drive the vehicles, operate the machinery , etc.

The revenue from recycling will always be small but the cost of not recycling is large. Those who do not recycle are costing ratepayers a great deal of money.

I don't think the recycling revenue comes into it.

There will never be a reduction in our bills, but fewer services would need to be cut.

They have mechanical separation now, obviously your council or the reclaimer doesn't need to purchase the equipment if they can keep the sheep ignorant and pliable with punitive controls and taxes.

Because a) not everybody recycles and b) any financial differences are minimal. But then, it's not about the money.

Well, recycling is expensive when some stuff has to be sent to China. Plus, as we all know, everything that is good, is expensive.
