I'm an Atheist, but if I could choose between God existing and God not existing, you're darn right I'd choose God's existence. I mean, c'mon, all you have to do is pray to this guy and not deny he exists, and after you die you get to spend eternity with him in heaven? That'd be awesome.
He would, of course, have to give proof in his existence.

Atheist:
Interseting,
To have someone to look over us and pull the fat out of the fire if things go totally pear shaped would be nice. For there to be a plan and a reason for the world being as it is, and that it was all going to work out for the best would probably make life easier to bear.
However, if god is real, he is a pretty pathetic god to have let the world get into the state that it is.
The thing is, the truth is not optional. We do not get to pick and chose what bits of reality are really real and which bits are optional.
I chose to trust what is real. Not what would be nice if it was real or what I would like to be real.

That is going, completely, to depend on whether I get to specify the character of the deity (or pantheon) as well.
A capricious Greek deity, or a vengeful Old Testament one?
Kali, destructive aspects and all?
This would be like the tales of being granted three wishes.
Unless you are incredibly careful you'll get exactly what you wished for, in a way that means you wish you hadn't.
A loving powerful father in the sky? Yes, but not if it meant honest dissenters were tortured for eternity.

I'm an atheist, but I think it would be awesome if there was, in fact, an omnipotent skydude who would help you out in tough spots, love you when no one else would, and help you win football games and get Oscar awards.
I also really wish that the idea of karma was true, and selfish jerks really did get punished by the universe, and nice, helpful people like myself got some kind of reward/recognition, but logically, and according to all of the evidence I've actually seen in the universe around me, I know that these things are not true.

I prefer to exist in a universe ruled by natural forces than supernatural ones. One can make sense of a natural universe. A supernatural universe could be capricious.

I would chose a god that didn't need to exist in order to be the most awesome god in the universe. Did you get that? A god who did not need to exist!

I am agnostic deist.
I have no problem with God. I have a big problem with religion.
Any religion that claims to be the only way to God is a lie.

I'd much prefer purpose and meaning (even if presently not understood) over existentialism - does "The Scream" ring any bells?

There doesn't necessarily have to be a God - but an otherworld would be nice.
