The Parabel of the ten Virgins is a very good demonstration of this. (Matthew 25:1-13)
The five virgins who have the extra oil represent the truly born again who are looking with eagerness to the coming of Christ. They have saving faith and have determined that whatever occurs, be it lengthy time or adverse circumstances, when Jesus returns, they will be looking with eagerness. The five virgins without the oil represent false believers who enjoy the benefits of the Christian community without true love for Christ. They are more concerned about the party than about longing to see the bridegroom. Their hope is that because they are associated with true believers (“give us some of your oil” of verse 8), that will bring them into the kingdom at the end. This of course is never the case. One person’s faith in Jesus cannot save another. The “Lord, lord” and “I do not know you” of verses 11 and 12 fit very well in with Jesus’ condemnation of the false believers of Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’”

A lot of people are looking for a way out of the world of suffering and evil they see around them and Jesus Christ offers a safe, reliable way out. The only problem is that people don't do due diligence. There is a price to pay for giving up the world -it's not a high price or a difficult one to pay but a lot of people don't want to put in the time, money and effort required to make a thing work. It doesn't only happen in christianity. It's the same as people who join network marketing because they are tired of dead-end jobs they hate and being broke all the time. Then they learn that this is actually a business, not a get-rich-quick scheme, and that you have to work to make network marketing work for you further down the road. There are no free lunches anywhere, but people are always looking for one.
Just as we can sit and criticise the preachers on TBN, thinking "they are just doing it for the money", we can sit and criticize people who have made it to the top of network marketing organisations: they do no work, they have the good life, they don't "walk the talk" but they expect people on the ground to invest all their time, money and effort in this venture that seems to just drain you of the little you have. That is usually how any investment works- it's called the risk factor.
There are also people who jump on the pentecostal bandwagon thinking that to "sell salvation" is an easy ticket to the good life. Those of us who know better call these people either false christs or "cuckoo christians". They are a disgrace but the world is full of stupid people, even within christianity. I wouldn't ask why there are so many hypocrites- I would ask why there are so many unthinking people out there who allow themselves to be taken for a ride by these cuckoo christians. If there weren't any takers, these people would very quickly be put out of business.

Because the Holy Scriptures had predestined that fact. A lot of people have an irrational fear of death if you are a layman and do not know anything about Heaven or gehennam. Man as an animal is basically an evil creation it is alluded to in the TORAH that man has 2 wills the will to good and the will to evil. A whole plethora of people opt out for the will to evil which encompasses hypocrisy in its ranks. If I were to be a real insensitive jerk of a person I would say that those people that call themselves christians yet are not, are trying to get over on YHWH that will not happen,

Religion is humans trying to work their way to God.
Christianity is not a religion. Christianity is God coming to men and women through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Jesus did not come to condemn the sinner, but came to condemn the sin in man. All humans make mistakes, but what matters is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The bible purely explains the hypocrites and when a Christian studies the bible then they do know the fruit they bear.

Because most people treat being a Christian like part of the political arena. They want to fit in and be liked even if they have to fake what they believe. Remember humans are social mammals and will do almost anything to either fit in or stand out to get others attention. It is sad that people can't be themselves but that is the way of the world and it will not change anytime soon. Believe me the fakers may hide from the rest of the population but they can't hide from the eyes of GOD. So don't worry to much about it and realize people get what is coming to them even if it is after death. Good luck in finding the answer you want and thanks for sending it to me.

Hypocrites, play actors. That’s true. No wonder so many will worship antichrist when he’s booted from heaven to earth at the 6th seal, 6th trump, 6th vile ... 666.
Lucky there is the Lord’s Day because lots of great teaching will be going on then, with satan out of the picture..

I was thinking about this this morning. I think there are a lot of them who don't even know they are hypocrites. They have bought into an inherently hypocritical belief system that is essentially a kind of "Christianity lite," that avoids the hard, introspective work of loving God and others by substituting condemnation and judgment. They are so inured to its internal inconsistencies and flaws in logic that they just accept it, never questioning it, never really examining it.
It's like, if you gave them sodium thiopental, and then asked them if God was real, they'd laugh and say "No, of course not. He's just a fictitious, handy way to make me better than other people."

A "real" Christian is one that knows they are a sinner and are in desperate need of a Savior. As far as sinning, we all do it. (For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Rom. 3:23) The sad part is that some claim not to sin. They deceive themselves and the truth is not in them. (1John 1:8-10) Though we sin, we are called to try to avoid it at all cost. As Christians grow in their understanding of God's love for us, good works should naturally flow in gratitude for what God has done. Some people truly are NOT Christians and are only claiming to be for economic or political gain. These people are a huge embarrassment to any true Christians, as they make us a laughing stock to those who do not know Christ. Worse, it turns away those that may have otherwise considered coming to faith in Jesus as their savior.

Well I'm proud to say that I am not a Christian and I do not put myself in that category . I don't follow their teachings but I follow God's teachings and what His Word proclaims in the Bible. I know I am a sinner and I do my best to resist temptation. Some Christians like to think they are pure and perfect and that they will go to Heaven no matter what. But that is not the case. Admit your wrongs and ask forgiveness to God..because we all fall short of the glory of God.
