I used to speak fairly fluent French, and I'd really like to get fluent again. Do you know of any good, current, intelligent French movies that I can use to reacquaint myself with the language and culture? I took numerous French classes, and I'd like to avoid the older movies that are always shown for students (i.e. Jean de Florette). Thank you!

Stupeur et tremblements
Les blessures assassines
Brice de Nice
La vie rêvée des anges
Le dîner de cons
Les visiteurs
Le grand bleu
Un air de famille
L'auberge espagnole
Didier
Gazon maudit
Ridicule

I always found anything directed by Jean-Luc Godard to be particularly easy to get into. I find myself listening to the French rather than reading the subtitles and his actors almost always speak articulately, maybe a little fast, but quite understandable. My particular favorite is Band of Outsiders. Also try more contemporary films like Amelie and Science of Sleep.
