I was sorry to read about what happened in your country. We have school shootings here in the United States too and as a former teacher, it seems too much to make sense of. From the pictures and videos I've seen of the incidences the shooters appear to be loners, misfits for whatever reason, often dressed in gothic attire, and basically friendless except for one or two who are like them. They are in emotional pain and lack the maturity and/or intelligence to respond to their pain in useful ways. They choose instead to inflict the worst pain possible on those who, in their minds, have ignored them or not accepted them. They do not realize it is they who need to adjust in order to have a pleasant school experience. We have in some way as parents and educators failed to teach our young people that puberty is a time of great change and emotional upheaval but that these things are only temporary. We've failed, too, as educators, families, and students to recognize those who are exhibiting strange, troubling behaviors and may be in need of special care from counselors and mental health providers. There have been cases where there were signs of trouble and other students even knew of the threats and plans but did not tell the proper authorities. We must do better in the future to once again make our schools a place of learning in safe surroundings.

I just came from the lil monster's blog. What a jerk !! He predicted that people would call his 'war' evil; but, that was not the case. He said he was rebelling against the powers that be, by getting rid of the "gangsters" and corrupt people.
And yet, in cold blood, he gunned down his school mates and principal. Shame upon him !! And contempt.
I have made it an unspoken policy to NOT mention (or remember) the name(s) of these cowards (whether at Virginia Tech or Columbine or Jonesboro or wherever). May I invite my readers to do the same.
He was and is a nothing. No name. Just an 18 year old brat with a gun and his simmering hatred. To he * l with him.

Most school shootings are because kids were bullied or picked on by other students or had underlying issues at home that the teachers, guidance counselor, or principal didn't do anything about. Maybe that was his reason for killing all those people. We'll never know. But it was like that for Eric Harrison and Dylan Klebold. They were picked on by their classmates and by the jocks so they decided to get revenge by shooting up their school. They didn't really intend to shoot people. The bombs they made didn't go off so they had no choice but to go and shoot people in the school.

I think that it was a really cruel thing to do. My mother is from Finland. I heard it on the news today, then my mom told me that the person who killed all of them wounded himself so badly that he died.
Still that was really uncommon, and I hope nothing like inspires anything anywhere else!

Unfortunately, some people are just wicked and demented and it is not only wrong but against God's will. It is a shame and that is an understatement.

if you're the one doing the massacre-ing, you probably have a justified reason (albeit maybe only justified to you)
