God's existence is a mystery.
Now, what IS a mystery? A mystery is something which the intellect can grasp, but not grasp fully. It (the human intellect) can understand the mystery, but not entirely. Like a glacier in the ocean, one can see a part of it on the surface, but it plunges into unfathomable depths.
I would proceed to make a few distinctions here. One cannot DIRECTLY PROVE God's exsitence through science because God is not subject to scientific investigation the same way a cat or a rock or the sun is. One may try to demonstrate that there is order and detail and laws, etc. in this universe, which indirectly affirm some kind of intended creation. That is quite a different statement than empirical proof of God.
There are many kinds of knowledge, empirical, logical, mathematical, epistemic, metaphysical, poetic...some of these directly deal with God's exstience such as the metaphysical logical demonstration of the unmoved mover argument. Belief in God is not unreasonable but IT IS mysterious, the human mind cannot grasp all of the mystery, but that is not to say that the human mind has no part to play.
Its like a cup being filled to the brim and then overflowing.

I do not know what "beyond logic" might mean, and anyone I have met who held such a position was at a loss to explain it. I take it that "beyond logic" simply means "I believe X; there are no good reasons for believing X, but I am going to believe X anyway." It is a very strange position.
This does mean that "god talk" is rational if and only if there are good arguments taken separately or together which give grounds for holding the view that god does indeed exist. Lots of rational arguments about our world do not involve the sciences (consider number theory), so if it were to turn out that arguments about god were of this sort, I would not be too concerned.

"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." I read this in the Old Testament and can't remember where just now. But, this is my answer about God and logic. God's mind is so far beyond ours that there is no possible comparison. Peoples problem with God is not really about logic, reason and science - its faith. There is enough evidence confronting us on a daily basis to prove God's existence. I believe we as people like to complicate matters as though that somehow made things more difficult and intricate. Anything rather than to simply bow before the Supreme, Existent God.
I find that the Love of God reaches so much farther with most of us than logic, reason and science. Most of us need Love more than we need information. But....this is just my opinion!

God is a personal experience, A one on one. I have no need to prove my belief. It works for me. And care less if who ever
does not believe.
God is not beyond logic to the believer who has felt touched by the love of God.
Never say never Do you know of the life of C.S. Lewis and his wife Joy, who were both one time Atheists.
One does not have to belong to any religion to be touched by
the truth of God.
Keep your truth, stop trampling on others truth. We each have our own, Thank God we still live in a free USA, able to believe or not believe, the same old song and dance of proof
wanted is a bore. Blessings

Well, if they accept the standard axioms of evaluation of information -- axioms we would use in any *other* field of study -- they paint themselves into a difficult corner.
So, there are two ways of avoiding that: one is to just say God is "beyond" reason. The other is to change the axioms of reasonable thought. For more on that, see Reformed Epistemology. It makes it so that belief in God is perfectly reasonable, but you have some weird (IMHO) starting points, logically.

you know, all people who believe in god do not necesarily believe in the same thing. Some may try to prove god exists, (which I think is a stupid idea, If you've decided not to believe in god nobody can convince you otherwise.) and others may believe he is beyond logic. The people who say god is beyond logic are different people than those trying to prove with science that he exists

I see your point and I agree. Science will never be able to prove God's existence in the same we can prove that E = MC squared, but: logic does apply to God -- up to a point. We have to know when our human logic is too small for an eternal God and when to look at things logically.
Some theologians I've read are the most analytical and logical thinkers I've ever encountered.

Why... LOL.
There's no fathoming how Christians think... and there is certainly very little logic to what they are willing to accept as a logically derived conclusion.
Tell me the answer to this: How can a Christian honestly say there is a God when none has EVER been seen or heard from according to any reliable source?
Their just not very honest when it comes to talking about God.

Only knowledge has merit. Belief in ANYTHING is illogical and inhibits knowledge. It is the personification of deity that is childish, when god/reality - the non-material field in which we are embedded that is responsive to consciousness - simply demonstrates the relationship between being and reality.

Because He is very logical. When talking about the origins of the universe the only logical explination is God.
A universe that always existed is illogical because the law of motion states that some force had to start motion. A dream is illogical because pain is real. The Big Bang is illogical because something had to start the Big Bang. Therefore God is the only logical explination because He is the uncaused cause.
