Hello,
I read some books on re-incarnation years ago and the question came up as to why we do not remember past lives.
The answer was that if we did then many of us would give up a lot easier and perhaps become lethargic or even suicidal knowing a new life is just around the corner-
You know, things are not going well for me, lost my job, house in foreclosure, oh oh, divorce papers from my wife, child custody in her favor. I think at this point I'll blow my brains out and perhaps I'll be come back as a rich movie actor or star ship commander next life!
Apparently the leaders of one dynasty in China thought that way, gave up and became apathetic since next life was probably better and let the Mongol hordes run right over them.
If one does believe in this, that answer makes a lot of sense.
Cheers,
Michael Kelly

There is something strange about this, but I think, probably, it is in consequence of the position that we occupy. There is a veil between man and eternal things; if that veil was taken away and we were able to see eternal things as they are before the Lord no man would be tried with regard to gold, silver or this world’s goods, and no man, on their account, would be unwilling to let the Lord control him. But here we have an agency, and we are in a probation, and there is a veil between us and eternal things, between us and our Heavenly Father and the spirit world; and this for a wise and proper purpose in the Lord our God, to prove whether the children of men will abide in his law or not in the situation in which they are placed here.
Sophia Christi, 118–19. He has created the veil [curtain, katapetasma] between what is imperishable and those who later came into being, so that which is set apart [marked off, numbered] to come into existence might follow after all the other ages and the [primal] chaos, that this flesh might be tested [in struggle] for error. But these formed a veil of spirit.
Apocr. John. 1:58. Adam’s deep sleep was really the putting of a veil between him and his former knowledge. 59. The veil shut Adam off from his memory, as if he were drugged. 60. His mind being separated by a veil from what is really going on in the universe

First of all we did not exist, physically until we were conceived- however- we were thought of and God had us in His heart before He created us. We existed in the mind and heart of the ONE that created us to have a relationship with us, We are created in time, however, once Jesus comes again there will be no more time, as we know it- eternity will be forever, and yes, I do believe that there is a heaven and that is where I will be, due to the fact that Jesus paid the price that I could never pay.
What makes you think that because "we don't remember what happened before we were born" would have anything to do with what happens after? Explain that to me, please

First of all our parents teach us religion from an early age that tells us there is an afterlife.
As we go through life we hear about spirits, mediums, ghosts, and people who have been transgressed under hypnosis and recalled earlier lives.
There is something a little egotistical about most of us and we dont like the thought of dying and being dead. WE like to feel immortal.
A Christian would be concerned about getting to heaven because that is the point of Christian life.

Scripture is quite clear that conception is a beginning. (There is no Reincarnation, so of course one would have no knowledge of life before). Chance, or evolution is a very bankrupt idea to explain life. We were created, and the Creator said we would be judged.

Because people are scared of the unknown. People refuse to believe that their sole puropse on this earth is nothing more than a cosmic "accident". People Need meaning in their lives because they're terrified of what might happen without it.

Or, you could ask the question like this: " If you don't believe you lived before you were born, then what makes you believe you'll live after you die "...?

Why do people assume that there must be life before birth in order for there to be life after death?

Well they'd very much like for there to be life after death, and they figure maybe it's real if you believe in it. Like faeries.

Christians are so busy with what their life will be like after their death.
I am busy with what my life will be like before my death. Live like there's no tomorrow.
