I hated that movie for different reasons. That move just shred at your compation for human rights. I sat there feeling so bad for this man. Yes, crucifictions are bad but why do I have to watch one for 2 hours? There was no happy ending, I just left feeling horrible, depressed, and ashamed that humans could be so cruel.

I was raised in an extremely Christian home, and I have read the Bible three times. You watched a movie. That was it, a movie. There are some things that you just cannot replicate, no matter how hard you try. I would think that the way Mel Gibson portrayed Jesus in the movie is somewhat the way that he looked in real life at that time. God is Jesus' father, if you have ever read the Bible, you would know that. It's hard to explain, and especially to people who have a more scientific mind that need physical proof of things. God just is. He is everything and everyone. God is that powerful, and he is the highest ruler there will ever be. Everyone is entitled to their own God, so please do not be offended by what I am writing. This is what I believe in. I thought the movie was good, not the best but good, and I felt that it portrayed what was in the Bible fairly accurately.

Jesus and God are 2 different people (higher powers). I have seen the movie and I think the whole idea behind the movie was just to portray what happened to Jesus. Not to try and say "this is what Jesus looked like". Obvioulsy no one from our time can recreate 100% of how the story was or how Jesus felt and looked. They are recreating the story based on the bible and maybe other documents. I am a religious person and I loved the movie. It made me feel as if I could get a good idea of how Jesus felt during his last days. How did they fail to portray Jesus accurately? The movie was based on his curcifixtion. Not His life prior to his death.
And if you got beaten the way Jesus did, your body would torn up and bloody, too.

I saw it shortly after it came out on DVD and I must admit that the violence (particularly during the flogging scene) did seem a bit exaggerated. However, it is important to consider what purpose(s) may have been intended by the director in employing such an extreme depiction. Personally, I find that the near constant presence of blood very effectively emphasizes the human aspect of Christ's nature (we sometimes forget he was also a man). It also reinforces blood as a symbol of life and, according to the Hebrew system of sacrifice, redemption. I would need to watch it again, probably a few times, to really begin to grasp the subtleties woven through this film.
Truth comes cloaked in paradox.

It is pretty bloody and violent. If you have a personal reason for wanting to watch it, it could be a good movie to see. I think the movie tries to give some insight into what Jesus went through before and during his crucifixion, and also why and how. A lot of people would have to look away in parts of it, it is pretty graphic. The picture is also about the other people involved in that story, such as His mother Mary, His apostles, Pilate and his Wife, Herrod, the Romans and the high priests etc. That is my opinion anyway.

I did watch that movie. It was crude.
The movie did not move me personally (did not affect my beliefs is what i mean). I believed in God way before watching the movie. I believe he died for us.
If they failed to describe what God really is as you claim, then you must think that there is someone out there who actually knows everything about God. Nobody knows this. Everything we know about God has been passed down from generation to generation, so there is no way to actually know what he really was like 100%. I am not putting God down by the way.
I do not base God to be just like the way he is shown in movies, because they are not accurate, they just give us a small idea of what he was all about.
To me he is amazing and great, but we all will see the REAL thing once we die.

Yes, I've seen the movie, and the reason he looks so terrible at the beginning was because Jesus knew what was about to happen to him and knew that he could not stop what had to be done in order to save us from our sins. I think I'd look a little pale and sick as well if I knew what he knew. And of course it got worse as the movie went on and what was foretold had begun. This movie was meant to show detail and blood so that we as people could see how much this perfect non sinning man of God went through because he loved us soooo much! Hope that answers your question.

It's a movie. They tried to be realistic with the blood and torture
He went through for all mankind. But man cannot make a true
movie of the likeness of God. The God of Scripture is the true God. He is the Logos. The living Word!

You know what is sick about human beings? They just stand there and watch as everything they ever worked for in their entire existance is straddled up and hung like an animal? When its all over they just go home and never learn from what they with power did to them. Repeat the error and even forget the situation. That movie proves to you how pathetic as a human race we are to just stand there and let something like that happen over and over again.
If he died on that cross or not, they didn't do anything to help him and that is the sickest thing you can ever see!

The Passion begins with the Agony In The Garden (Luke 22:43). That is why He looks so terrible from the beginning of the story.
