I would rather see us end our war in Kosovo, end Clinton's Viet Nam, and bring our troops home.

These are Americas forgotten men, fighting a forgotten war. A war that America has no interest in fighting. Kosovo has no WMD's, they did not attack the US, there is no Al Quada in Kosovo.

This is an European problem. Bring our troops home, end Clinton's war now!

I believe that war is necessary in some situations. I don't always agree with the reasons that we are in the War in Iraq but...my husband is in the Army and has been to Iraq already and may have to go again. For that reason, I support it. It's more support for our troops then support for the war. Not all things that come out of war are bad. There are some good things that have come out of this war. They're just not as publicized as the bad.

I see war as a necessary evil. Ideally, everyone could live in peace and people would respect other's religions and there would be no need for war.

But ideally, I'd pee antibiotics and crap sunshine. It doesn't matter much what happens in an ideal world, because unfortunately we live in reality, where people don't live in peace, religious wars are fought every day, and everyone blames somebody else for their problems.

I believe that the Iraq war could have been better handled. Bush should have done what FDR did in WW2 and made blatantly unconstitutional laws forbidding certain forms of free speech and making unpatriotic comments treasonous. I've come to believe that that's the only way you can win a war nowadays. I approve of keeping free speech of course, but I believe that if Bush had taken such liberties, the war would have ended years ago and we'd have them back. It is very difficult to win a war when politicians are focusing more on winning the next election than achieving victory and the media is allowed to show whatever they want of the war. Bringing the immorality of war to light hurts us and helps the enemy, softening our resolve and strengthening theirs. I don't want to sound like an extremist here. But from a military perspective, it was certainly an effective way back in WW2, and I don't see why it would be ineffective today. Did we ever see pictures of us torturing German soldiers for information? Nope, but I can guarantee it was done. Did we see pro-German articles in the paper, urging us to remember that they were humans like us? Nope. Did anyone think to complain that our alliance with Stalin was merely one of convenience? Not a chance.

But yes, I believe that the Iraq war was necessary, if for no other reason than to remove the despot we let take the country years ago.

I dont support the war in Iraq, but I do support the troops that are there. As more time goes by, we find out more and more that people who gave intelligence reports that supported a military move against Hussein were either completely bogus, or incorrect in many aspects. There were a lot of axes to grind, and so people giving the info played our intelligence people.

Is it a shame that a dirtbag like hussein is gone? No, but we should not lose thousands and thousands of American lives in Iraq to do it.

I believe that the saying that fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity is maybe a little naive, but it sure is an interesting thought.

As far as saying that bush went to war because his father could not get it done, not necessarily true.. Bush Sr was advised that it was a bad move to go into Iraq and start a war, because it would be like another VietNam.. we would get stuck in there and never get out... hmmmm looks like things have not changed much in 15 or so years.

I believe in war if there is just cause. For instance, if the leaders of a country declared war on the United States and attacked some of our citizens around the world resulting in the death of Americans, then i would have to say we would need to defend ourselves...however, we now know that the reasons we were given for invading Iraq were false. Saddam was not harboring terrorists, he was not storing weapons of mass destruction, his army was a laughing stock, with no capabilities to do any damage to us. So no, i dont support the war in Iraq. We must be very careful going forward in choosing enemies. China and Russia are both building their military to sizes comparable to ours...so it will be an interesting next 10-20 years...

I don't agree with the idea of war - in an ideal world people would communicate their differences using words rather than fighting. Wars leave a trail of death and destruction for many years after

Then again, we're not living in an ideal world and other people (Osama, Saddam, Hitler) do threaten peace.. and since these people aren't willing to communicate nicely, unfortunately sometimes war is the only option left.

Saying that, I do greatly appreciate the job our soliders are doing in both Iraq and Afghanistan at the moment. Both they and their families are very brave.

Yes I do believe in war! There are a lot of bad people in this world and the only cure is 5.56mm or larger ordnance. It is sad to see how many pacifists there are that think you can ration with and debate dictators and extremists. By the way, it's hard to say that you support the troops while you are protesting the war we are fighting. Most of us don't believe that line.

There are times when all diplomatic means are exhausted and there is still injustice, innocents is lost and life is being needlessly extinguished. When those that have no means to defend themselves are left helpless and are tormented by an oppressor it at times takes force to free those that are tormented. If the blood spilled in a conflict is less than the blood spilled if a situation was left alone is not the war just?
Please tell me is a war to stop genocide worth it? I'm not saying to compare anything now, just if a war can stop genocide is it worth it, or should we not use our military might to defend the down trodden?

The war in Iraq is wrong. Iraq did not do 9-11 and there are no WMD. The war is a stalemate and cannot and will not be won buy the USA. This Iraq war is another Vietnam in the making.

War is like punching someone in the mouth. It is a last resort but sometimes certain people only understand one way... the hard way. I served in Fallujah, I don't "believe" in war but served to help and because it was my duty. I believe in helping a person/people that need help. Iraq basically suffers from battered wife syndrome. They have been beaten so much and for so long and live in fear... that they NEED help to get back on their feet. Imagine a place where you can't even trust the police!!! Things happen beyond our belief and knowledge so who are we to judge without all of the facts.

If we knew everything all of the governments did on this planet, we would kill all politicians. Sometimes ignorance IS bliss!

The war in Iraq was conceived so that the US could have a democratic foothold in that region of the world. With a foothold in that region, the US secures future oil reserves and controls 'terrorist' cells.

The war was a deception forced over the American people who were led to believe that Hussein was a mad foreign leader who had weapons of mass destruction.

The Bush-Cherney administration did what it wanted to gain power in the Middle East. They accomplished what they set out to do. The people of the US have little say in regard to war decisions.

I do not support the war.
