you know, I like stuff to match but yet, people put in stuff that doesn't match and call it "fashionable".
A red pillow on a purple sofa and a purple rug with a red book on a black bookcase.
What matters is what YOU like. You are the one who lives in there so make sure YOU love it.

In my opinion, no. I have a blue carpet and pine furniture and they seem to go together just fine. I imagine if I had a wood floor it would make no difference what color the furniture is. If it were my home, I think I'd like the wood furniture to contrast from the color of the floor.

No, It actually looks better, when using a different color. Think coordinating colors. Like if you have cedar look floors then you would use a walnut and have red accents like candles etc. If you have bamboo floors which tend to be pale, then black Iron and glass or black/painted wood looks really good. Get a home magazine and see what you like. Also looking at pictures of homes for sale on the internet can let you in o some trends or ideas you might like. Never Ever Matching though. Imagine a person in an all denim outfit of the same color, looks like prison garb or a uniform. You probably don't want that look for your house.

I have recently done a large remodel project and with all the woodwork I did and the floors and the furniture I though it was best to have some variations in the woods so that everything did not run together and I was right it looks great. Just do not get to radical in the differences.

No. Woods can contrast each other.
Oak furniture with mahogony floor for example.

No, It gives the room character. I collect antiques plus have a wood floor, so there are several kinds of wood in my house.

You don't want things to be too matchy-matchy. You don't want all of your furniture throughout your house to be all the same stain anyways.

Personally, I think contrast and not matching is the way to go.

No, they do not have to match. If it were all cherry brown or pale pine, that would be boring and look like Ikea!
