Are modern day Catholics into proselytizing in a big way? How do they get people interested in thier churches?

JWs go door to door. Alot of protestants talk up their religion to their friends and ppl at work. What do catholics do?

I'm Roman Catholic. I was taught to live a life of love: God, others and self. If I do that correctly, people will be drawn to my spirit and I can invite them to mass if they are interested.

But you're right. We are not taught to go door to door or talk a lot to try to convert people. In fact, I was taught that is crass, though that might be more about being born in the South than about being Roman Catholic.

Almost every Catholic parish has an inquirer's class, usually 3 or 4 times a year.

Surprisingly, there are a lot of folks out there who are curious about the Church and who want more information about its reality.

They watch their Catholic friends and co-workers, they may tune in to a Catholic show on cable or satellite tv, they see signs about a fair or festival and come for the fun then stay to ask questions.

Usually rather than going to non-Catholics to proselytise, we let them come to us. They do.

They have lots of kids. I was born into a Catholic family and so were my three other siblings. My mother was born into a Catholic family as were her 7 other siblings.

You make a good point. Crass or not, Jesus told his apostles to preach from door to door, and from town to town.

So why don't they?
Maybe they feel thay can choose the bits they like to do, and make up the rest.

Who said they DO get new people interested? Most of the Catholics I know, aren't all that interested in it themselves.
