Blood like this is a warning! Your cat could have something as simple as a tear in the anal lining ( common after a bout of straining to pass hard stools ) or something as serious as bowel cancer! Sorry to be so blunt but you need to be aware that it should not be dismissed as one of those things - its not normal and should be investigated promptly. I hope everything turns out well for you both x

Cats do not get periods.

Blood coming out of your cat is not usual. Blood in the stool can indicate lots of different things, and always merits a trip to the vet. It might not be terribly serious, but only the vet will be able to give you an idea of what you need to do next.

That happened to my cat. I found blood in his poop when I went to clean out his box and I called my vet and they told me to drop off a sample. When I called to get results, they told me he was fine. The vet's office did tell me that if he doesn't drink enough water, he may have to strain too hard to go to the bathroom (especially if he/she only eats dry food, like my cat does) and that causes the blood. But I definitely recommend dropping off a stool sample to your vet's office as soon as you are able to make sure everything is ok.

It really depends on how much, and how often. A small amount on a one time basis could indicate stress (yes, cats can get stressed), or it could be related to constipation.

If this is a rare occurrence, then you could bring it up at your next vet visit. If it happens more often, then an early vet visit would be advised, as there could be many medical issues, and early is better than late for any solutions or treatment.

it could be the result of a parasite (worm) infestation. have you taken the animal to the vet? Maybe take a stool sample so the vet can check it....

parasites can kill an animal, btw. and make them feel ill, too.

Take a sample to your vet for evaluation. You will be notified if there is anything seriously wrong.
