We pay our babysitter $20 per day.
She picks him up at our house, stays at her house all day, then she drops him off at our house. She is also a certified nurse.
If I had to pay $10 an hour for my babysitter, I'd be better off just staying at home. That would be more than HALF my own paycheck. Regular daycare centers don't even charge THAT much.
My son has been with his babysitter since he was 7 weeks old. She only asked for $20 per day. She provides him with food, we provide diapers and formula.

Did you ask your cousin what she feels she should be paid for the whole day? You may want to ask some friends for tips on how much they pay in your area for babysitting too.
I would pay her at the least, $40.00 for the whole day. Keep in mind, you are taking your daughter to her house and unless your cousin has small children in her house already, she won't have as many toys, books, etc. that you would have available at your home. A 2-year-old is a lot of energy to deal with and you should make sure they have plenty to do too. Also, are you providing your daughter's food/snacks or is your cousin? That would be another factor to think about.

I don't know if you're paying her less because she's your cousin but as a babysitter for 6 years, I charge $10 an hour (if one kid), $13 for two, and $15 for three. Add or subtract a dollar or two based on the difficulty (babies, kids with special needs, etc). I don't know any babysitter that would accept $20 for watching a young child all day, or even an older one...for non family, that's pretty insulting.

I am in California and I pay our babysitter $10/hr. I wouldnt feel right giving her anything less. Its alot of work. Although, because she is family you could ask her what she thinks is a good range.
But the safest thing to do is go with an average price per hour.
Good Luck!

Depends on what the going rate is in your area. When I used to sit for relatives, I'd make that. In the Chicago area, I make between 10-15 dollars per hour, regardless of whether the kids are at my house or at their own. I find it harder to sit at my own house. Pay her by the hour and whatever you'd pay a normal sitter. Chances are, she may turn down the money.

I, too, have heard the going fee is approximately $10/hour and if it have been possible to do it finished-time, i might stop my day job! you are able to think of that $10/hour is costly, yet what's your peace of techniques nicely worth? You of course believe her and so does your daughter -- this is nicely worth something! i'm at a loss for words with reference to the dinner area, however. Is she looking at your daughter in case you're there? if so, it somewhat is going to be below $10/hour. life is negotiable. in case you think of that $10 is basically too lots, confer with the sitter! consistent with threat she can furnish some help around the domicile to make up for the quantity you're spending? remember however that she may be 'much less obtainable' in case you end of paying below she can get someplace else! sturdy success!

$20 for all day? Are you talking about 8 hours? Longer?
I pay my sitters/ nanny $10-$15/ hour depending on the time of the day or day of the week I am using their services. If it's the weekend or nights it's $15, and $10 for day time hours during the week.
$20 seems very low.

$20 for an entire day? I give my babysitter $20 for 2 hours. Obviously give what you can afford but she wouldn't even be getting minimum wage if you just gave her $20. Give her at least $50.
