Just wondering what some people thought about the new law stating un-plugged shotguns are legal for taking non-migratory game. Basically, 5 shots instead of 3. There just has been a controversy were I live about it. I personally don't see a problem, even though it usually only takes me 1 shot.
All input is welcomed even from residents of other states.

I feel the same way JD. Some of the hunters in our hunt club that come down from up North said it wasn't "sporting".
Same guys that refuse to take part when we hunt with dogs.

Controversy? Over 2 additional shells for hunting upland game? Why would something so petty cause controversy, in light of the fact that it doesn't include hunting of Federal Migratory birds. I guess I just don't see it as that big of a deal........

I don't have any problem with that law. As long as the Federal laws have not been broken. And as one answer said if you haven't hit a bird with the first three shots you are not going to hit anything with the last two. Maybe it will make some hunters practice a little more in the summer if they can see that 5 shots isn't enough.

I don't see that it makes a big difference. As some of the others said, it's seldom that you get a decent chance for even a third shot. If you're willing to put your shoulder through the punishment of firing 5 shots fast enough to get them off on a single flight, then that's your issue, I guess.

They should have kept it at three (3)*because it gives the game more of a chance & other Hunters an opportunity to perhaps get a chance to harvest what others miss in three (3)* shots.* Three (3)* was fairer to both game & other Hunters.* Pa. Hunter.*

That is the way it is in Wisconsin. Only need to put the plug in when hunting migratory game birds.

You have to go to a gun shop and fill out a form. They do a background check. I'd highly recommend you take a safety course first.

Unsporting? Good grief! I can't see a problem, and I've divested myself (through being a parent) of all my shotguns except the side-by-sides.

In my expeirence, if you haven't hit it in two you're just wasting shot. I can count on one had the times my third shell was a hit. Three or five? Who cares!
