I think Media in general, but it's not just an opiate. It steers our perceptions to back what ever cause they want us to back. Rabid religion does the same thing. Thinking has become a lost art. The Internet lets people have access to free thought and information from other perspectives as does NPR and Public Television.

Sports it has and always will be the biggest opiate of the masses look at every society in history even ones without religion had a form of sports because no matter how messed up your life is if your team wins or you share in the excitement you are a winner.

But between the two listed above it would be the internet because it gives people the feeling that they have a voice.

Television. The internet doesn't come close.

Religion isn't an opiate, if you see the behavior of those truly affected in a positive way.

Probably the internet. People spend more time on the computer than they do @ church. Sometimes, I come close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
