knowing that it has been written and re-written, edited and re-edited, censored and re-censored for thousands of years?

you think maybe the greed of mankind has basically made the Bible a big piece of propaganda in order to control people?

and yes, i have read it, and i understand the basic underlying principle, if we are to survive, we must get along and work together, but it seems to me that it has been altered in such a way that that message is pretty much lost to the masses.

I've read it (even taught Sunday school class in my teens) and some things I do have a hard time believing.

I do believe in the "spirit" of the Bible, but not in the book itself.

Having studied the history behind the Bible, I see no where when it has been edited or censored.
Those versions (recent ones) that have changed, alterred and deleted things are pointed out by those among us that are watching for error.
I do believe and am firmly convinced that the modern versions are created solely for the purpose of making money for the publishers.
Translators of years ago were excruciatingly careful to preserve the meanings and wording of the Biblical texts.
The Bible was not written to control people. It was written to explain matters out to us from God. What we do with it is up to us. God does not force Himself on anyone. Man does, and has in the past forced himself using religion as a cover, but such an act is no where recommended.

No, it’s not hard to read…I read it everyday! Buy a reprinted 1611 edition, if you want to see the difference in the verses…you won’t find much difference between the current KJ and the 1611 KJ...and yes I believe the stories are real history and future events. I love the Bible...it's my favorite book!

Greed...no...the need for understanding...spreading the gospels...as the Bible requires and it's not used to control but rather to lead.

The bible is a guide/ an accounting of man's relationship with God; God sent his messenger, Jesus; it isn't a hard message to keep people in line; do unto others as you would have done unto you; love thy neighbor as thy self; don't judge ; he who is without sin , cast the first stone; these laws aren't difficult to follow; society laws are far worse than these ; the way is just to be a good person and kind to others ; no control issue there; you can choose it or not ; a gift from God ; you break a society law and you face the death penalty

That's why it's important to read an accurate translation of the Bible from the original texts like the Dead Sea Scrolls and others for the Old Testament and other New Testament documents. New King James Version is one of them. It may be beneficial to read several versions at once to understand how they differ and a good concordance version is helpful as well.

if it was its outdated and doesnt appeal to the young generation today. If it was written to control people then you need to question if all of this is a bad thing? Look at pedophiles, adultrers, thieves, liars rapists etc how nice would it be for everbody to suddenly unite and get on? I sincerely believe that the teaching of the bible needs to be modernised for people to take an interest

No. I still believe the bible is the same.

Even though there may be people who seek the greed but there are still others who are humble, faithful and follows the Lord. I believe the bible still is preserved with the truth.

God told us in the Bible several ways to know that the Bible and Himself are true.

The best one is this; He promised to give His Holy Spirit to people who seek Him.

There are millions of people today that are filled with the Holy Spirit of God, they speak in tongues, some have the gift of Healing, or prophecy, or miracles, etc...

No hard time at all.

I did study it, and when I came to the realization that it is a bunch of fairy tales and hokey pokey, it became so much easier for me than trying to understand/believe.
