We've been to the doctor and he is being tested for Sprue through a blood test. He had a rectal exam and a full physical today. He is 8 years old and in good health. He has a stomach ache after he eats (sometimes). This morning, with no food, his stomach was hurting really bad. He's been hospitalized 2 times over the past couple of years with "possible appendicitis".

The doctor told me a little about it and told me to google it and I have, but I was just wandering if anyone has experience with this condition.
Thanks!

My daughter was tested for that when she was 3 because she wasn't gaining weight. She didn't have it. What I do know about it is that it is when the body can't digest the gluten. So you will have to cut out any foods that have wheat in them. You can buy rice flour and you can use that to bake your own bread. They will do an endoscopy in order to biopsy the lining of the intestines. If that is what he has they will be able to tell. When my daughter had her endoscopy they put her under general anesthesia and I think they would probably do that for an 8 year old, but you'll have to ask your doctor. It is a day surgery. Good luck.
