The Christian god is concerned because he was created by men. And given charachteristics of a human. That is why he is concerned about being worshiped, it is why he is vengeful, and spiteful and why the bible does not make sense. If there was a "god" that created us to love us, then he would be more concerned about helping us love each other, than trying to divide us....he would be more involved, instead of ignoring us...

It isn't so much that God desires us to worship him, but more that he knows all about the human being, the origin, the personality, the life itself. And what is good for a human being is the act of worship: the problem then is to discover just what IS worship? It certainly can't be a ritual, but I think it is a frame of mind where the human being is choosing and doing God's will in their life. God wants what is best for us... there is nothing better we can give to our Heavenly Father than wholehearted love. Our Heavenly Parent desires for us to be happy, healthy, and well-rounded individuals. He knows what is best for us, He offers us the greatest path through life for each and every individual, and he knows that when we are on that path we are inherently the most happy, most peaceful, and most profoundly stable. Knowing God, the Creator, is the best! And THIS is when people are really moved to actually and really literally worship One So Great and Wonderful.
People who do not know God, don't know that yet. :)
God is absolutely perfect and so it isn't possible for God to be egoistic; that would be anthropomorphizing God and lobbing the crude emotions of human beings on one who is far more Lovely. God's love for all is perfect, unconditional, and He loves us all JUST THE WAY WE ARE. When a person comes to know this, true worship is the reaction. So, worshiping God at church is one way to get to know God, but to really worship God in the life and heart and soul of the individual is something more profound and better: it brings the intimacy of God's love right into your life.
:) So, when you worship God next time, ask him "is this the way"?

It's not so much the worship as it is the fact that we do it FREELY that He's concerned with. Sure, He could've forced Himself upon us, being the omnipotent God that He is, but why do that? It would be a very loving relationship no doubt, but the fact that it would be FORCED upon us would make it cold and lifeless instead of joyful. Think of it this way....If you had been given the power to create the perfect mate, but didn't give her any free will, what do you think the romantic side of the relationship would be like? No doubt YOU'D enjoy it, but there would only be mechanical responses from her, not heartfelt ones! God is concerned with the fact that we are to worship Him FREELY in order to truly expereince the depths of His love for us. Remember, the Bible says we're NOT to worship Him, "....with lipservice (going through the motions) as menpleasers (to make others happy)......" The Scripture also says that He "....inhabits the PRAISES of HIS people (ones who are in true communion with Him)...." He doesn't punish us; we ultimately punish ourselves, for there's no denying the opportunity presented us once we have God's salvation message preached to us and we've made an honest effort to study, understand, and develo a relationship with Him. If we fail, we DESERVE to go where we go, for we're saying to God in effect that "....our righteousness (state of living in a relationship with Him) is as filthy rags (worthless!)...." Since sin nor flesh can inherit the kingdom of Heaven, Hell had to be built and kept as an eternal reminder of the consequences of sin.

wow, personify god much?
we don't know what god is concerned with. it's a good bet though, that god doesn't experience time as we do, because it's a dimensional phenomenon; the shadow of the 4th dimension the 3rd. furthermore, when bad things happen, we don't know if it's punishment, and if it is, we don't know why we were punished.
you sure you're not talking about your dad or someone?

great question. You would think some one with that much power and greatness has other things on his hands. If he/she existed, he/she is a petty micromanager who can't even stay off the sexual life of his creations

Because that is our entire reason for being? The Lord has given us everything we could ever possibly need and in return asks for faith. If you did something good for society, wouldn't you like credit for it?

God wants our devoition and our worship. I like to use the marriage anology. Your spouse wouldn't be cool with you cheating. God's not cool with it either. Put God first, and that is true worship.
