I'm Jewish and keep kosher so I've never had it before, what does it taste like? I've always been curious.

You've missed out on some great food then. Shrimp and lobster are wonderful.

Lobster has a sweet, sometimes charcoal grilled taste to eat - such a treat

Shrimp will take on the flavor of what it's cooked in - since it doesn't originally have any strong flavor (like salmon or other types of fish). Shrimp fettucine, baby!

I've always found then rather bland taste wise. It's the seasonings that make it good -- butter, garlic, etc. Last time I ate it I had a whooper of an allergic reaction though so no more for me. if they aren't cooked just right the texture can get rubbery and chewy.
I'd take a good fillet mignon or well seasoned lamb chop any day over lobster or shrimp.

i know some jews eat crab salad, with imitation crab. basically it almost tastes like that, with maybe a little old bay seasoning.

did you know once in MA, prisoners petitioned to eat something else besides lobster, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. now lobster is considered a delicacy...

if you've never tried it, you're not missing anything. shrimp and lobster both dont have any fat, thus aren't the most succulent morsels, or easiest to cook. thus dipping them in butter or fat is usually necessary.

Oh I love shrimp and lobster. It is really hard to tell some one what it tastes like because there are no words for it.

Oh man, I can't even begin to explain it. I live in the South right on the Emerald Coast of Florida and there is nothing like Cajun Boiled fresh Gulf Coast Shrimp. Well accept mud bugs of course. (Crawdads)

Shrimp is really good.
If you cook it right it will be tender and juicy and is fantastic in a paella with rice, peas and broth.
I can't eat straight shrimp though, i just enjoy it in a paella.

I've yet to try Lobster.
My husband and grandpa absaloutly love it. They say it is so tender and suculent.
I will try it one day.

I prefer meat though, i love my meat better than seafood.

You mean ocean bugs?

Personally I hate them. And the texture is disturbingly rubbery like half dried silicone. I've tried them hundreds of times over the decades and just recently have come to the conclusion they can't be prepared in a way I don't dislike. You're not missing a thing.

Have you eaten fish? It does have a fishy taste being seafood, but delicate. Oh, it's so hard to explain! I'm sorry to have wasted your time. It's just delicious.
