I'm a christian who denounces the whole concept of the trinity. It makes no sense. If we were created in God's image, shouldn't we have like two other heads on our neck? LOL. Me, my energy, and my son. Reminds me of Monty Python. I'm being silly here, but hey. I was talking the other day with my brother about the Holy Spirit. He made a point that the Holy Spirit is femine in nature. And what is The unforgivable sin? Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Maybe God doesn't like Yo Momma jokes either!

THE past THE present and THE future. Does that mean that there are three distinct 'times', or does it mean Time has three distinct phases, each of which was future, before becoming the present and then into the past? Incidentally, this is one of the triune things in creation which point to the nature of God, along with dimensionality, physics et al.
Common sense should tell you you asked a question without thinking it through.

Jesus said: 'I and the Father are one (John 10:14); He also said 'he who hath seen Me hath seen the Father (Jn 14:9).'
The Psalms state that God has a Son (Ps. 2:12);
Isaiah 48:16, in a passage about Messiah, says 'God, and His Spirit, hath sent Me.' (an alternate reading is 'God hath sent Me and His Spirit'). Read the whole context to see this is a passage revealing the Triune Godhead. Isaiah further reveals that Messiah '... shall be called ... The Mighty God, the everlasting Father ...(Is. 9:6)'.

Messiah is revealed by Daniel to be 'cut off (i.e. killed) but not for Himself (modern translations state 'and have nothing' instead of 'but not for Himself'; yet that is a nonsensical, and means Jesus didn't have people saved the instant He died)'.

There are numerous other mentions of God's Son and God's Spirit in the Old Testament, beginning with the Spirit in Genesis 1:2. Indeed, even before Jesus arrived on the scene, Jewish rabbis commented on the 'Memra', which was sometimes synonymous with God, and sometimes seemed to be distinct from God. This 'memra' is better understood when John wrote the opening to his Gospel: 'In the beginning was the Word, and Word was with God, and the Word was God (Jn 1:1)'. The Greek is 'Logos', and misled the Gentile Christians into saying that John was using a Greek metaphor; but actually John was using a Hebrew metaphor pointing toward the previously mentioned Jewish rabbis' memra (see Dr Jonathan Sarfati's DVD 'Jesus in Genesis: the Messianic Prophecies': Master Books, 2004: try http://www.answersingenesis.org to order).

So, for anyone willing to search the Bible prayerfully, asking the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to guide them, and really meaning business with God, it is quite astounding just how many examples of the Triune Godhead there are in the Old Testament.
May God bless all who truly seek Him.

No. There are three who bear witness in heaven; the Father, Word & Holy Spirit. And these 3 are 1.

The LORD thy God is One LORD.

To the world there are many gods, but to the Christian; there is one God.

God in 3 persons, perfect Trinity. This was part of a song that sang in my mind last night. I don't like to pray to the blessed Trinity by the Name Trinity, because this doesn't give God Justice. God is Elohim. Plural in Might (Power). But there are 3 distinct persons in One LORD.

So? Christians can't say they are 3 different gods. Mormons can, but Christians can't. God the Father, the Word & the Holy Ghost is One LORD & also One Creator, Who Was, Who Is & Who will Be.

You have to use more than The Oxford Reference Dictionary, and your own limited reason in order to understand the trinity.

The word 'trinity' is not found in the Bible, but the concept is. Careful study of the scriptures does in fact show that there are three divine persons, but they also clearly teach that there is one God. Opponents of Christianity seem to think that this is a contradiction, but it's not. Without boring you with a lengthy discourse, I'll simply say this... God is one being made up of three distinct persons.

John 14:Jesus Said "I AM The Way - yes, The Truth and The Life. No one can get to The Father except by means of Me. If you had known Who I AM, then you would have known Who My Father Is. From now on you know Him and have seen Him!"....

John 14:9-10...."Anyone who has seen Me has seen The Father. So why are you asking to see Him? Don't you believe that I AM in The Father and The Father is in Me? The Words I Say are not My Own but are from My Father Who Lives in Me. And He Does His Work Through Me. "...

John 14:15-21..."If you love Me, obey Me; and I will Ask The Father and He will Give you another Comforter, and He will
never leave you. He is The Holy Spirit, The Spirit Who Leads into all Truth. The world at large cannot receive Him, for it isn't looking for Him and doesn't recognize Him. But you do, for He Lives with you now and some day shall be in you. No, I will not abandon you or leave you as orphans - I will come to you. In just a little while I will be gone from the world, but I will still be Present with you. For I will Live again and - and you will too. When I come back to life again, you will know that I AM in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. The one who obeys Me is the one who loves Me; and because he loves Me, My Father will love Him; and I will too, and I will reveal myself to Him."....

John 14:23-31..."Jesus Replied, "Because I wil only Reveal Myself to those who love Me and obey Me. The Father will Love them too, and We will Come to them and Live with them. Anyone who doesn't obey Me doesn't love Me. And remember, I AM not making up this answer to your question! It is The Answer Given by The Father Who Sent Me. I AM Telling you these things now while I AM still With you. But when The Father Sends The Comforter to repersent me - and - by The Comforter I mean The Holy Spirit - He will Teach you much, as well as remind you of everything I My Self have
told you. I AM Leaving you with a Gift - Peace of mind and heart. And The Peace I Give isn't fragile like the peace the world gives. So don't be troubled or afraid. Remember what I told you - I AM going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really love Me, you will be very happy for Me, for now I can go to The Father, Who is Greater than I AM. I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do - you will believe in Me. I don't have much more time to talk to you, for the evil price of this world approaches. He has no power over Me, but I will freely do what The Father Requires of Me so that the world will know that I Love The Father. ..."

Faith is about just that! It wouldn't be faith if EVERY question was answered, EVERY 'i' dotted, EVERY 't' crossed! Trouble is our finite minds get in the way all the time!

If you read the book of Genesis, you will find that God created man in "three parts". It says he formed a 1)body from the elements of the earth, he breathed into it a 2)spirit, and the results was a living 3)soul. Man was made in God's image in that he is a three-fold being.

Each part of man touches a different realm, has a different function and operates under different laws. The body touches the physical realm and is subject to the laws of physics, time and space. The soul (or mind) touches the mental realm, and is unable to directly influence the physical. Nor is it subjected to physical laws. Your thoughts can go from ancient Egypt to futuristic Mars in an instant. Your spirit communicated in the spiritual or "heavenly" realm, and is able to communicate directly with God. Three different "beings" which form one person.

So God is found in each of the realms that man touches. He is found in the spiritual realm as God the Father, without beginning or end, and not subjected to time or space. He is found in the physical realm as God the Son, the man Jesus Christ, who limited himself to the same laws any other human is subject to, and only used the same spiritual tools we have (prayer, faith, fasting, laying on of hands, anoiting with oil, infilling of the spirit, etc) yet was able to live a perfect life. He exist in the soul of man as the Holy Spirit, who indwells the hearts of the believer bringing comfort, aid, guidance, power, etc as needed.

So three distinct and different "beings" or "nature" that form a single person called God. Each is a unique being, and thus can be referred to with a "the", but still form a single God. Just as "the" arms, and "the" legs, and "the" body and "the" head form a single human.

The omnipresent Spirit of God is the totality of the Father, the focused Spirit of God in a physical body is the Son, and the working Spirit of God is the Holy Spirit. The distinctions are due to relativity (time, space and causation) and language, but there is only one God.

did it ever occur to you that the "THE" could be referring to the uniqueness of the 3 "persons" in the Godhead? They are unique within themselves. There can't be one God unless all there parts are joined. Like an egg...yoke, whites, and shell. Three unique parts...it's still just one egg. If one of those parts was missing, it would no longer be a complete egg.

It is called The Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Ghost) - one God. Kinda like a flower...many colorful petals, but still one flower.

The Scripture also says that "....these (Father, Son, Holy Ghost) are OFFICES (functions) of the SELFSAME (one) Spirit........" Think of it this way..... The average man is a father, a son and a brother. But, if you were looking for a SPECIFIC man who fit all those descriptions, you'd have to know his NAME (in this case, Jesus Christ) in order to get the attention of the specific man you were looking for! Jesus said, "I and my Father are ONE. No man cometh to the Father but by ME......"
