Now that I am out and about with my 11 month old daughter, the other mommy and daddy's at her playgroup don't seem to approach us and I think it's because of my "look". I have dyed black hair, tattoos, body piercings and although my clothes aren't risque or slutty, they are modern. Hard to explain. I'm a radio personality and the look goes with my career, but I wonder if it's time to tone it down for my baby's sake. Any suggestions?

I feel like this is who I am and I don't do it for people's reaction, I do it because it makes me happy. I also feel like I shouldn't care what others think and if my daughter grows up seeing me for who I am, a strong woman, it shouldn't bother her. But of course, there is this "little voice" that tells me I should tone it down for her sake. I don't want people thinking she's a freak because of me.

You may want to tone things down ever so slightly just so you and your daughter will be more accepted. If anything the parents will probably try and schedule more play dates because of it. I wouldn't go nuts, you're not looking to change yourself completely. Try wearing more comfortable clothing when you're out with her. Don't make yourself into what they think you should be, just tone things down to make it easier in those situations.

my son dyes his hair black and has snake bite lip peircings,i have tattoos and had belly peirced, stil have earings.Maybe just tone a bit of the dressing when in those playgroups with the jeans etc(as suggested above)we got stared at,but we do have lots of great friends, school was the most place where nobody approached you, they stared+gossiped..I dont worry too much now,as i have now met a few mums and they are great..be yourself, when you do make one friend others will roll in,you sound sweet..cheers

I also have tattoos. Used to have piercings, but I let them heal up. I don't dye my hair anymore, either.

People associate those things with felons and drug users. Sorry to say, but it's just the truth. When people see a Mommy like you or I used to look at the park, they automatically assume we're raising our babies in meth labs. Tone it down a little, but don't lose track of who you are.

the comparable as she looks now - yet with huge fake EYELASHES massive sticky pink or SCARLET lips large around blobs of BLUSHER She would desire to have looked much extra like an lively blow-up intercourse-doll than she does now.

Maybe dress for your age group....

You didn't say how old you are....

If you are a professional, look the part.
