it's much better to put it in the oven, or toaster oven, microwaves have been lead into the theory that it's a cancer causing factor, but that hasn't been totoay proven, it does however, take alot away from food, such as nutrition, not that potatos have much nutrition, but microwaves shoud be avoided when possible

Microwaved potatoes are fine. They are not bad for you.

Microwaving is essentially a form of steaming. Steamed food is usually lower in fat and free radicals. Therefore they should be good for you.

not at all bad for you. i "bake" my taters this way when in a hurry.
granted it doesn't have near the flavor of oven baked... but hey when in a hurry you don't have much choice!
