Pornography and especially child porn is out of control through out the world and the forced sex, physical pain , mental horror and degragation perpetrated on these innocent victims is certainly crimes against humanity and warrants the involvement of the United Nations. The pleading, screaming and eventually broken hearts and minds of the adults, juveniles, and little babies are suffering hour after hour, day in and day out, month after month and eventually years are being ignored. This is a oppurtunity for the U.N. to receive a huge amount of respect instead of being manipulated by a superpower for various conviences.

Pornography is speech protected by the First Amendment in the US and similar laws in many other countries. Because people have fought hard over a thousand years fro free speech rights, and continue to try to expand it to countries that don't have it, no one is going to suddenly change course and suggest the entire world give up free speech via UN consensus.

As for child Porn, it is already a crime virtually everywhere (no pun intended). No UN action is needed. there is already consensus as to the legality of it.

You err when you conflate child porn with all other poor as out of control, and forced with innocent victims. Child porn yes, other porn usually no. Out of control is completely subjective.

I think it is child porn only you care about, right?

As you know, most child porn (but not all ) is traded via the internet. There are countries that attempt to limit what people can see and can't see at the country level, China being a good example. Yet banned information slips though easily and regularly.

You seem unaware of how difficult it is to eliminate free speech, especially via the internet, on a technical level.

Unless you have a solution to that (and neither you nor anyone else ever will), then your cries for regulation and strict are horribly misplaced.

If you want to reduce the level of child porn, look at the broader picture of child sexual abuse, of which child porn represents only the tiniest sliver.

Do some research into that, and see what you can do to eliminate or reduce the incidence of that kind of crime.

I don't mean lock people up or shame them with a registry. I mean prevent it *before* it happens.

Look at the social conditions and mental health issues involved, and find a place to volunteer to assist your community in reducing this. Because it is prevalent in your town and every town, perhaps even in your own family, since most molestation happens there!

Realistically, you don't need a UN mandate, you need a popular effort at the individual level to get this done. Instead of asking for some vague assistance from a body that is incapable of acting, start acting on it yourself and make a real difference in a child's life!
