Recently I accidently hurt someone (nothing major), it was an accident and I was still arrested and cautioned.
When I asked why? it was because I had to take responsibility for my actions however accidental they were. The charge being "assult without intent"
So my question is why are the police killing people and hurting others and not being arrested and charged?

I accepted the caution as I accept I caused the accident, this question is not about me.

I agree with the writer about the statistics, as the office in charge said the CPS were pushing it because of stats.

I do not hate the police, I respect the good ones, but I am getting a sense that the British Police are becoming a law unto themselves and they are rapidly loosing peoples respect.

Most of what you see and hear about the police killing and beating people is a political spin done by police haters. They go out with their cameras and catch police taking someone down and record it. Then they use only the photage they want so that it appears the police are in the wrong. Later they will interview the person that was supposedly beaten by the police and naturally that person will state that he was beaten and that he had done nothing wrong.
Now I'm not gonna sit here and tell you that it never happens and that police are always right, because they are not. But that is a very small percentage of police and it is not the norm. When a story of a police killing or beating hits the news it is a major story that gets lots of attention so you seem to hear about it a lot.
We are the police and we are here the serve and protect. Unfortunately we have our bad apples too. When we find them we get rid of them. Like in the civilian world in order to put a bad guy away we need evidence. Same goes for the Law Enforcement world. I am sure there are some bad apple police officers that have gotten away with crimes due to a lack of evidence. All we can do is keep serving and protecting and policing our own.
I am sorry you believe that all Law Enforcement is this way, but I blame that on the police haters that go around putting their untrue spin on everything just to validate their point.

Your question is as foolish as you sound.
It is hard enough getting people to join the police in this politicaly charged enviroment we live in. You should thank your lucky stars that we live in a society that allows you to post anti police posts like this on the internet. You forget that, our society is built on a system pionieered by us and has worked without any major issues for centuries.
The police are the upholders of the law, they are sworn to protect the rights of the innocent, if that means "hurting" someone, who is at that time percieved to be a threat, then so be it. They shouldnt have placed themselves in a position whereby the police have to take such action in the first place.
For every occasion of a person being charged with assaulting a police officer, there are 2 that have gotten away with it, or charged for a lesser offence. Could you imagine if that person then made legal reprasentation that the officers "assault" on them was unlawfull? the officer according to your scenario would be then charged with assault. This would lead to anarchy, because no police officer would ever approach a possible violent situation. They would stand back and watch until all has calmed down. You as a civilian have certain responsibilities to obey the law, if a person has become assaulted because of an accidental/reckless act on your behalf, you are still to blame. No matter what country you are in, think yourself lucky that you are in a country that will offer you a caution, it could have been a lot worse.
I detected no remorse in question mmm, I wonder why?

There are good and bad in every profession and I agree some do get above themselves. There are a number of Police Officers who have been arrested and charged and have been sent to prison, think that should now read ex Police Officers. The Police are not the ones who decide to charge it's the CPS mores the pity.

Excellent point. I live 3 doors away from one and he recently ran over my elderly neigbours foot. She was on the kerb!!! She needed a hospital check up but was fine apart from severe bruising, although some of us had to take it in turns to go to the shops for her as she could'nt walk properly.
I asked her the other day if he would be disciplined for dangerous driving - and she hadn't reported him. The reason? his wife had visted her after the incident and hinted that as an elderly lady there may come a time when she would need the assistance of the police, if she were to get on the wrong side of them, there may be a delay in responding to any call from her!!!! The coppers wife told her she didn't want to be labelled a trouble maker - what if someone tried to break in to her house one night. She'd like to think her policeman neighbour would run to her aid then, would'nt she?
I'm so disgusted I can't tell you. The only punishment he'll get is that noone in the street who knows the story will speak to him again.
I'm not suggesting all police are like him, but it makes you wonder how low they will stoop to cover up their messes.

It's not a question of them "getting above themselves" as you put it but a result of constantly having to deliver statistical results.
Your "crime" was very easy to "investigate" and "prove" so another "crime" reported as being cleared up. As opposed to the rather more difficult and time consuming task of finding rapist, murderers and burglars.

The police can literally get away with murder...I take it you're talking about the De Menezes shooting? He was held down and then shot seven times in the head!! A man guilty of no crime whatsoever! How can this be allowed to happen without anyone being formally charged and convicted?!!
The police are a law unto themselves. It wouldn't be so bad, but the ones i encounter are dumber than a second coat of paint!

depends on how badly you hurt him, police are here to keep the peace and make a record of these kinds of things, things would be much worse without them...
and the killing people thing was just stupid, the same people that killed that brazillian stopped a terrorist attack. its better 1 person is killed by accident than hundreds killed in an attack

Looks like we've got another cop hater!
Let me start by saying that cops do not JUST kill people. They use deadly force when it comes down to their life or the criminals. If you are just out doing your job and someone threatens (and has the means to carry out the threat...a gun, knife) you, you would try to defend yourself. I am going to leave it at that. You are just mad that you were charged with a crime and now you have to do the time. You'll change your mind when something bad happens to you, such as, getting beat up or in a car accident and the police are there to help you!!

I don't think they are getting above themselves. I think they are all struggling to do a miserable job without enough support from the community or the Government.
And I'm positive that any police who do kill innocent people are dealt with just like any other murderer.

RECENTLY ACCIDENT LY HURT SOMEONE?
HOW DO WE KNOW THAT. YOU TOLD US I FORGOT?
HOW EVER THE FACTS IN THE MATTER AND YOU ADMITTED TO IT WAS IT WAS AN ACCIDENT.
HERE IN ALABAMA WE HAD A GUY DROWN HIS BABY IN HOT BATHTUB WATER AND SAID THE CHILD SLIPPED OUT OF HIS HANDS AND HE COULD NOT FIND THE CHILD UNTIL IT DIED.
NOW UNTIL THIS ACCIDENT IS INVESTIGATED HOW DO YOU KNOW HE DID OR DID NOT DROWN HIS CHILD? TRUE STORY.(MICHAEL MEYERS 2004)
AS TO THE POLICE SHOOTING PEOPLE, I HAVE SHOT AND KILLED TWO IN 42 YEARS. ( I WAS EXONERATED AFTER 6 MONTHS OF NO PAY.) MOST OFFICERS NEVER GET TO SHOOT THEIR WEAPONS IN THEIR WHOLE CAREER. I SHOT IN SELF DEFENSE AND WENT THROUGH THE DEPARTMENTAL SPANISH INQUISITION ABOUT IT.
IF YOU WERE NOT THERE, HOW CAN YOU CALL THE SHOT.(PARDON THE PUN)
