The answer to your question really has nothing to do with the identity or religious views of the other person. The practice of identifying myself as a Christian is because Jesus says for Christians to do that.

We are commanded to:
Acts 1:7-8 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)
Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society
7He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
We are called to be His witnesses. Is Jesus NOT Lord & our creator?

I don't really think most people intend it to be pushy or whatever...generally, I just like to let people know that God is looking out for them, too, even if they don't believe in Him. It is a very small step toward bring God into their lives.

Without evidence, they're really just saying "I'm a Christian."
Atheists can be guilty of the same when they say "There is no God" to a Christian.

Matthew 10:33 - But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
Jesus is Lord.

I usually don't. You can't make someone believe. We don't have the power to make every knee bow and every tongue confess. The authority hasn't been given to us. Nonetheless, Jesus is MY Lord.

I don't. In fact, I believe theology should only be shared when requested. Otherwise, loving others by meeting their needs as best I can seems to be the way to go....

Just because they don't want to believe it, doesn't make your statements untrue. Ever heard of denial? Denial is not the absence of truth, it is the refusal to believe or accept the truth.

Usually it is because we are talking. If they ask what I believe, I tell them.
But generally, after you talk to me for a bit of time, you know where I am at spiritually.
