Gum....tons of gum!! Sugar-free, of course! Or try doing something in lieu of smoking, like running or cleaning. My apartment was absolutely spotless the first six weeks after quitting!!

I used the patches and found that very helpful. Also exercise seemed to reduce the frequency of cravings as well as burn some of the extra calories I was consuming.
Also I found my mind playing tricks on me, coming up with reasons, feelings, justifications to take it back up. I also took solace in that every day the cravings became less intense and less frequent which 11 months later are maybe once a month. Good luck, You can do it

Drinking a lot of water will help curb your appetite, but you're probably eating out of boredom, so if you can find something to occupy your time where you would be smoking it may help.

Suck on hard candy or suckers, chew sugarless gum and take up a hobby that uses your hands like knitting, crocheting, sewing, needlework or doing models.
