The most important thing to him is that you will be there for him--anything else is just "gravy". What you get/do for him really depends on how much alone time you will have to share a more private/intimate moment or gift. Something real showy like flowers, balloons, etc. would probably get him teased by his battle-buddies, so it probably needs to be something small.

Have you got time to do "Glamour Shots" and get a photo made for him? Probably not the whole studio thing, but could you do some yourself with a digital camera and a friend? Something slightly sexy and patriotic yet not porno? Maybe wearing his camo jacket (don't know if you have access to one of those yet) or wrapped in red/white/blue or something? He probably would be able to take a wallet photo with him.

Maybe just room service, candles, and rose petals in the hotel plus a romantic dinner, and a sweet card. Honestly he just wants you!

Let me guess....he's in the Navy? Just walking around Michigan Ave. is lot's of fun....you will see all kinds of interesting things! The best part of all of this is that he will be so happy to see you and his family, there is no greater gift. The Navy Pier is fun, you are going at a cold time of the year, right there on the lake, there are so many restaurants in downtown Chicago......take a ride up to the Sears Tower, that would be romantic at night, with all the lights on all over the city. Enjoy, tell your sailor hello from Michigan!

The Magnificent Mile (Michigan Avenue) is beautiful at night. I would suggest renting a hotel room, the Marriot has breathetaking views and is in the mist of everything; dining, shows, museums, shops, night clubs, etc. As someone else mentioned, Navy Pier is nice, but not really romantic in the fall/winter unless you like freezing because it's like 20 degrees outside. My ex took me on a horse and carriage ride down Michigan Ave. and it was one of the most romantic thing i've ever experienced.

Welcome to the family. I would say go for a nice romantic dinner. Spend "Quality" time together. I know just hugging my wife when i got back from being deployed made me feel good must have spent 10 mins just hugging. Good Luck with your special day.

Chicago is a beautiful place to be for the weekend maybe you could go to the famous Navy Pier and get your caricature drawn by this professional guy there. After you are done walking around you have to give him to time of his life by doing you know what......

All I can tell you, there are 2 things a guy wants after boot camp, good food and sex. Much like an inmate after serving a sentence lol.

You don't have to but him anything. As someone who has graduated from boot camp, there is only one thing he wants and you already have it, if you catch my drift.

Congrats to your husband.

take him out to his favorite restaurant. No kids, no parents, no in laws. take him shopping for his pressie, but don't let him take until he reports to A school(laptops are always a good choice if he doesn't already have one)
