I can't force anything down her throat because her claws are lethal weapons.

Buy some Cod Liver oil jell caps and mix ONE in with her food --- break it open with the end of pin or tack and squeeze into her food, then mix it well. It smells fishy so she should not mind to much. Also you can try a little cows milk warmed up --- not to much because you do not want to dehydrate the little girl either!
Good luck, and I know exactly what you mean by lethal claws.

The other thing to try is a mixture from the vets office that you place on their paws, it is for hair balls but it does make them pass stool as well --- it is a great product ot have on hand and does not cost that much.

You might try some home remedys. Canned Pumpkin (not pie filling) mixed with his or her food. High fiber cat food is also important if cat is constipated. Also, encourage the cat to drink water. Have you been finding any poop in the kitty litter box. If this does not get better you will need to take kitty to the vet. If the cat is impacted she may need an enema, the vet can do it. I hope this can be handled with the home remedies in your case. My 3 year old siamese has chronic constipation. When first diagnosed, she needed an enema. She is now on a high fiber diet and takes Lactulose everyday, which is a laxative prescribed by the vet. Do no try to medicate the kitty without vet advice.

Are you sure it's constipation? Straining in the litterbox could also be a sign of Feline Urological Syndrome, which is actually life-threatening for cats, and is usually mistaken for constipation (which could also be life-threatening.) Either way, you REALLY need to take your cat to the vet to make sure nothing more serious is going on, and she's not building up toxins inside. I don't mean to scare you, but it really could kill her if left untreated. Fortunately, it's fairly easy to treat. Just go talk to your vet with your kitty to make sure everything's okay, and so they can help you if it isn't. Good luck!

It's possible that there could be intestinal blockage which could kill her. Take her to the vet immediately. The vet will examine the cat's rectum to try to see if there is poop in there and how hard it is. This is VERY uncomfortable for the cat & the cat will howl in pain. I recently had to take my male cat in for constipation and he was howling w/ pain when the vet tried to physically remove the poop herself by pulling it out. I will NEVER let her do that to my cat again! She ended up giving my cat an enema which got things moving again. This could be a potential life threatening situation, so please go to the vet.

I had the same problem with my 10yr old cat. 100% canned pure pumpkin each night. I give him a little under a teaspoon every night. he loves it and keeps him regular. When I forget after a few days he gets hugeeeeee poop nuggets that he strains to get out. Dont buy the mixed one , must be 100% pure puree. its in the baking isle, costs about $ 1.39 compared to a huge vet bill and OTC medicines that dont work.

Poor girl. Can you put a few drops of olive or vegetable oil in her food. That might loosen her up. Call the vet to see if they have any suggestions.

If your cat is the kind that eats household plants, try giving her cat-grass. The extra roughage will help clean out her system. You can find it t just about any pet store.

Take her to the vet. You shouldn't be trying to treat this at home. It can kill a cat. Take her to the vet right now.

You can try dairy, like a pat of butter on your finger, or speak to your vet about a solution...and change the diet, it's part of the problem.
