I have had pretty terrible luck recently when it comes to girls (see my history) and I have come to a realization. When I was little, I was kind of made to believe that guys were usually somewhat sex crazed and assertive while girls thought more about the emotional side of any relationship and, even though they sometimes went out with jerks, were always looking for someone perfect.
It seems to me know that, at least in my case, its quite the opposite. I'm an a sensitive guy and as far as I can see most of the girls are viewing the guys just as much as objects as the guys are viewing them.
So I guess my question is: is this the way it is all the time, or is it just a high school thing. Are girls these days totally incapable of finding someone they really like and sticking with them?

Some clarifications:
1. No, I'm not really "hot" but judging by the annoying swarm of 13 year old girls at the pool that follow me around, I'm not bad looking.
2. I show my sensitive side around everyone, I am also not quite. I don't talk to much though.
I in general seem to be the guy everyone wants to be friends with, but no one would ever consider dating.

Well i wish all the guys were like you say you are.
Do you show your sensitive side when around girls though?
Girls up to the age of about 18 are just looking at the guys they consider 'fit' and its usually the same type they go for, brown spiked hair etc
Your better off waiting untill they have grown up a bit.

see man... being a guy myself, i also faced this problem... Now i am 22 & Things are better now... What girls really do in that age is purely out of attraction towards the opposite sex's one or the other quality... They see something interesting in one guy, see something more interesting in another guy. They are already so confused that they just can't make up there mind... But, they won't admit there mistake at any cost, whatsoever....
So leave all these things for some years n concentrate on your present, strengthen it to make your future more stable n even more stronger ( that's something that would permanently attract a girl towards you) Try n be more matured, wise, cool minded, develop your personality, confidence n overall communication skills........ & be sure friend that you will surely get the right girl when the right time comes.... That's the same way i got mine........ ;-))

Most girls have to grow up before they realize they guys they like aren't the ones they really want. Some girls are forever falling for the wrong guys, others get smart and find the "right" guy for them. It's not just a high school thing. Some guys make the same mistakes their whole lives too.

It's good that you've come to the realization that you've been misguided about relationships. But, it sounds like you've adopted another misguided extreme because of your history.
You need to realize that stereotypes don't apply and the outcome of a relationship starts with your choice of companionship rather than generalities about men vs. women.
Is it possible that you've adopted the same practice you're criticizing - the wounded bird syndrome?
Relationships are about balance. You can't expect a person (male or female) to care about you if they can barely take care of themselves. And guess what? You carrying the relationship isn't helping - it's probably making your "partner" more insecure because you're holding all the cards. It's a common case of them striking out at you before you can hurt them.
I suggest going to the book store and read up on relationship building with the opposite sex. So that you can get a well grounded understanding of women and how to make good dating choices.

In highschool everyone is usually like that. There are a remote few, that are looking for long-term at that age, but really most of the people at your school are searching for their next lay, who has the better arm candy and who can make out with who first.
When you get out into the real world, you will find a lot more people like you, looking for stability and an actual relationship and not just some fling. Sick it out, and you'll be fine in a few years.

I think you've answered your own question.
You poor guy, you've been unlucky enough to meet some high maintenance, immature females, but, i think you'll find over time (hopefully) those girls will grow up, and perhaps even become your friend (or more).
We're not all evil witches, but i agree there's plenty of girls out there doing themselves a disservice by acting trampy and not thinking through their actions- gives the rest of us a bad name.
Good luck and best wishes

Theres no hard and fast rule. Fact - if you looking for love, it doesnt find you. If you Love someone you get hurt. You may get used in your life, you learn to deal with it as time goes by. Dont worry about losing faith in love, love finds a way to come back in your life. Have fun , keep to your morals, be smart. Girkls may be experiencing a reverse of roles , trying to be too forward or use you can be their way of protecting their feelings.

Are you hot? It's great that your sensitive, but maybe you're too quiet. Girls don't like that. You have to be able to approach them first. Say something sexy. Just keep looking, they're some good ones out there.
