My dog is constipated....I called the vet and they said to use Milk of Magnesia...because of being constipated, he won't eat anything because the girl at the vet says he's "scared" to.

He let something small out this morning but it was very tiny and pushed a lot...he starts barking because it hurts to come out I guess...I feel bad.

How can I get him to take the medicine?? Also any other remedies you can think of we can use? Thanks

Use an eyedropper to administer the milk of magnesia. Hold him tightly, and open his little mouth, and slowly drop it in. This isn't fun or easy, but it works, and then the medicine can bring the poor baby some relief.

Get a syringe with NO needle, place the medicine in the syringe and put the syringe in the in the mouth, in the pouch of the inside of the dogs cheek and administer meds that way, push the meds in slow enough that the dog has a chance to swallow it without it pouring all out.

Try canned pumpkin, if he won't eat that on his own get a dropper that would be used for babies and put the milk of magnesia on the back of his tongue. Do NOT spray it in his throat, just drip it on the back of his tongue. Canned pumpkin could be used for this too IF you liquefy it enough.

I know this sounds really bad & gross, but my dog ate a tampon and it was lodged in his anus somewhere and thank god he is alive b/c he almost died. If I wouldnt have taken him in for an xray he would have died from the poop backing up inside him. TAKE HIM TO THE VET AND ASK FOR AN XRAY!
