i think this is to do with the fact that they do not believe that jesus was the son of god but a prophet who could perform miracles etc. The jewish people are still waiting for the messiah to come. Maybe they don't believe int he trinity or don't understand it

In what they are referring to they are right -- their God has been given three heads - so to say - and three split personalities.

This is not the teaching of either the OT nor of the NT.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 14:28 the the Father is greater than I. 15:1 I AM the true vine; and my Father is the husbandman. 20:17 I am not yet ascended to my Father. But go to my brethren, and say to them: I ascend to my Father and to your Father, to my God and your God.

1 Corinthians 15:28 the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him, that God may be all things to everyone.

Matthew 26:39 And going a little further, he fell upon his face, praying, and saying: My Father, if it be possible, let this chalice pass from me. Nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Because:

The bible is believed to be the exact word of God - elevating an object to the status of God. Idolatry.

Many images and symbols - idolatry

Trinity - There is only 1 God, YHWH, no threefold God or manifestations of the same God. That's idolatry.

Equating Jesus with YHWH is idolatry.
