I keep asking questions related to South Korea but very few people answer. How many people actually answer question in the Korea section?

I know some things about Korea, and I try to give the most un-bias and accurate answers I could give with sources. I frequently answer questions in this section too. I still have to agree with RolloverResistance because sometimes, you can get faster and more accurate results when you use the search engines to get the information that you want yourself; if not, Y!A can be more useful. It does tend to give quicker responses regarding opinionated matters and such, but I have answered many knowledgeable questions (in this section) because I had sources. (It's basically similar to using the search engine but doing the search for the asker instead.) Sometimes, the appeal of the question matters too.

From my name of "Living In Korea," I truly do live in South Korea; in fact, for the past 13 years, three different locations.

I try to avoid answering questions if I believe I cannot give a definitive answer that will assist people. The two points is not worth it.

For the Korea section, this is the very first section I check for new questions when I get logged-in.

Hopefully in the future you ask a question that I am knowledgeable about, then I can answer from knowledge. I really do enjoy assisting people where I can.

For example - another question in this section asks about a map for the Anjung-Ri area, located outside Camp Humphreys.

That was simple; I just telephoned and obtained the number for the Army Community Service at Camp Humphreys, then gave the question-asker both ways of dialing the number.

Plenty of people answer, but if you start reading closely you will find many of them are parked squarely in the Midwest of the US and haven't been back here for five years or such. They then speak authoritatively about current things in Korea based upon their favorite travel website, despite the fact that they have no real clue what they are talking about.
It is tough to parse through the crap, but there are quite a few English teachers, expats, Soldiers, and real Koreans (not kyo-po) that are living here and in the know. These types usually give good solid answers.

Edit:
I just looked at your old questions and it looks like about a week ago you asked a bunch in the Korea section and got five or six answers to each. Other than that, you asked two Korea questions in the Marriage section... so, what are you looking for?

the answer to the Q "who here knows ANYTHING about SK?" is that there's no one here (or anywhere else, i believe) knows ANYTHING about south korea - even a korean.

But in this section particularly, there are quite lots of people who are familiar with korea and know pretty much about the country. Some people here are Koreans, some are overseas korean, some are foreigners living in korea, some are people having interests in korea and knows quite a lot about the country.

I answer questions in this section frequently based on my experiences as a foreigner living and working in Korea. I can understand your frustration with not many people answering. It's true that not many people use this section. Another problem is that most of the answerers don't even live in Korea and aren't Korean. This applies to all of the previous answerers to this question now.

It can be faster to research Korea yourself, but some things you're not going to be able to find. If you want to know the truth about things like racism, the workplace or what it's like living in Korea ---the best answer will come from someone who is experiencing it --- not someone who read about it.

Even though I have never been to South Korea, I have studied Korean language, culture, history, and society for several years and am married to a native born Korean. So, my knowledge is not the best, but I do know a bit more than your average American.

If I want facts, I avoid Y!A and go straight for the Goog. If I want opinions, Y!A gets me quick responses.
