I stopped taking Cymbalta for two reasons, first because I simply couldn't afford it and secondly because I realized exactly how addictive it was..when I ran out.

The withdrawal symptoms are brutal and I'm sure she is feeling out of control and terrible. She should start getting back to "normal" at the end of two weeks.

If you really can't handle standing by her during this then just tell her and leave, BUT get someone in her family to stay with/take care of her first.

The bigger problem is that she stopped taking the medication and probably still needs an anti-depressant and should see a Doctor as soon as possible.

Good Luck to the both of you and God Bless

I am curious why she quit taking it? You NEVER just stop any of these kind of drugs you should talk to your Dr. and he would wean her off or put her on something else. her life right now is worse for her on the inside than you are seeing on the outside, If you can't take it, and I don't blame you. Tell her you are leaving until she lets you take her too her Dr. She took the drug as an anti depressant and obviously needs to be on something, Good Luck

when you are on these type of meds. you are suppose to gradually come off of them. My husband stop taking his for about 2 weeks and we almost had a divorce. She needs to see her Dr. so that she can be weaned off of them.
Why has she stopped taking them? She is on cymbalta for a reason. I sympathize with you.

See the antidepressant websites, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris in section 2, and read the section. Print/refer her. NEVER stop antidepressants cold turkey: taper off slowly, with medical advice. I'd advise her to resume taking them, possibly at half dosage, for a few weeks, until stabilised, then wean off gradually, as advised in section 2.

She should have had her doctor slowly taper her off the Cymbalta. I would recommend calling the doctor asap.

I imagine everyone reacts differently. Do a Google search on the drug and see if they can give you any information.

you can't just stop taking it, you have to lower the dose gradually. she should have consulted a doctor. tsk tsk.
