when you read it do you read like a chapter or two a day? or do you read like the whole book of John and then take several months off?
Anyway, I was wondering because I haven't read mine in a long time and I wonder does it really help to read it over and over? I used to read it alot about 3 years ago and before that....but have really slacked off of it for about 3 yrs.

I stopped reading it when I got a divorce and none of my prayers were answered to save my marriage and all my efforts were cast asside...I figured praying was a waste of time at that point...until a week ago when my neighbor prayed for me and the prayer was answered...then I thought I might give it another shot.

Look up "Our Daily Bread" here on the web. It takes U through the Bible in a year. Fill in Ur info & they send the little Booklet each month. No cost although they do ask for donations & make "Special Book Offers" each month, but No Obligation. John

I read my Bible daily. I read every morning and of course sometimes throughout the day. Sometimes I use something along with my Bible other times I use the Bible only. You do not have to read a bunch of scripture every day. Sometimes I read 1 or 2 proverbs, other times I read a whole chapter or book. The important thing is not how much you read each day, but that you are reading each day. Think about how what you are reading pertains to you and how you can grow or change.
I am sorry that your marriage fell apart. I hope you are at a point now that you realize that God allows us free will and so even if you were praying for God to save it, it is not going to happen unless both spouses are willing to grow and work on the relationship. God does desire for marriage to work out, but he does not force us to bend to His will. Also, sometimes it seems prayer is not being answered, but God always answer prayer, even if we don't like the answer or when it is answered. God answers prayer at the right time not at our time.
I am curious, and of course you do not have to answer, but I was wondering are you at a better place now, then you were during the time your marriage was falling apart? Are there any specific things I can pray for you?

Some days are easier to read than others. Not trying to boast, but I read 10 chapters a day. I have markers at different parts because some passages do get a little hard to get through. This way if one passage is slow; the next passage may be easier. Some days are a bit rough though and I might skip reading for that day, but I make a point to pick it back up the next. As far a devotionals go, check out your local Christian book store. I don't know many good ones. I do know that C.S. Lewis has a lot of really good books that have a great message.

I don't pay attention to devotionals. The Bible is a devotional if you really want to save a few bucks.
By your question, I wonder how you fared with what you read in the Bible?
When did you read the Bible, and found it a waste of time?

I love Oswald Chambers ' My Utmost For His Highest' - it's very insightful and has helped me grasp deeper thoughts about God..................Beth Moore and Stormie Ormatrin have new devotional books
I would recommend a good study - like a Beth Moore Bible study or Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby --- you fill in the blanks and study Scripture as well...........there are many to choose from. I do these in the mornings at times............I just finished the Patriarch study by Beth Moore.
As far as reading Scripture, I start at Genesis and plow through............and then begin again...........I use different Bibles...........

when i first started i wanted to know what this God was all about and started on a subject that i was intersted in sence i wondered like you why i had to go threw abuse and hard times,,and prayer didnt work for me.. i started reading about responiablity of those who take care of us,,then moved in to Psamls because its mostly prayers that also tell what your rights are and how to know where I stand in Gods rules, and laws and i am still growing and learning and that was 15 yrs ago and i gave my life to Jesus
