I know bodybuilder's do it because it's a cheap source of protein and they drink it raw. I'm also workingout and was wondering if you can get sick from drinking egg white's raw? Is it common?

Any experiences?

Raw eggs can carry bacteria that can lead to a person's death.

Especially those with immune deficiencies should always cook their eggs until the yolk is hard and no longer runny.

This is the only way to kill all the bacteria that could be present in eggs.

bodybuilders or any knowledgeable athlete today do most certainly not consume raw eggs

all of that nonsense went out the window in the 80's when people didn't really know any better. there is no viable reason to consume raw eggs only increased health risks. consuming raw eggs can actually cause a biotin deficiency which would have a negative effect on the metabolism.

I prefer protein shakes (Nitrotech),
...but I did try blending egg whites with milk for a drink one morning. I didnt like it, but it didnt make me sick. I guess drinking too many would probably make you vomit.
However, the average "ACTIVE" person should consume approximately 1 gram of Protein per pound of bodyweight daily, possibly even more for hardcore bodybuilders and athletes.

Egg Protein is supposed to be of such High Quality, that in their quests to get Massive and Shredded it's common for the Pro's to be eating up to 14 dozen egg whites or more per week!
(They avoid the yolks because the yolks contain way too much fat and cholesterol)

Supposedly you can get food poisoning (salmonella) from the egg white coming into contact with bacteria on the outside of the shell, but the thought of guzzling it down is enough to make me heave...

It would be rare to get sick from eggwhites, as long as they are fresh.
The bacteria tend to form in the yolk....drinking WHOLE raw eggs could give you some bacteria...because it is usually present in the yolk.
Whites should be safe.

I will definitely get sick. Sick pertaining to throwing up because of trying to swallow those sticky, slimy raw egg whites.

If a body builder jumped of a bridge, would you follow him? No, you probably wouldn't, so you shouldn't drink egg whites either. Amniotic fluid is not meant for consumption in the raw.
