BASES, yes almost... military personnel STATIONED, no.

EACH country has military personnel stationed overseas in any EMBASSY the have.

Just FYI, the Germans, Saudis, and others have training-squadrons based here in the United States, and active duty-squadrons who visit AFB Nellis and NAS Fallon for long training and war-games.

no we are not the only ones.......and kishore is giving way false information...Japan does indeed have their own military both an "army" the Japan SelfDefense Force....and an "air force" the Japan Air Self Defense Force (im pretty sure they have a navy as well but i dont know the name of it).....they are currently one of our allies as they were the first country after Great Britain to offer us troops to help with the war on terror. so no the US and their "allies" dont tell Japan they cant have their own military, since they too are an ally. I dont believe any countries have actual bases on US soil....however there are often foreign troops on overseas bases ..(when I was in Japan for 3 years there were both JASDF and Phillipine AF troops on the base regularly....the JASDF guys were actually stationed on the US base part of the time)

oh btw i just looked it up and confirmed....Japan was never forbidden by anyone other than their own constitution from having a military. They set up their defense forces (with the help of the US) in 1954 basically breaking their own law........the Constitution has since been revised however.

hell no.

many others follow the LEADER.
USSR was asked by USA to remove it's base in Cuba.
Brittan keeps its forces along USA.
some European countries like France kept in the past.
China keeps its forces in Tibet (taken by China).
Pakistan's forces were there in Afghanistan.
the Taliban, after taking lessons from US' CIA, has kept its
forces in many countries, including US.

Japan is forbidden to keep a standing army, by US and its
allies.
all the developing countries are handled diplomatically, not to have better standing point.i.e. military wise.

Now that the Soviet Union no longer exists, we could say that Russia does have a few bases in other countries that used to be part of the Soviet Union.

The U.S. , Russia and China are the three major superpower countries on the Planet.

Think Axis (Russia/China=communism) and Allies (U.S./ Britan=democracy) here.

Smaller Axis countries allow Russian (and some Chinese) bases along their borders--just as smaller Allied countries allow U.S. military bases on their soil.

Note: Nowhere in Russia or in the U.S. are there military bases from their smaller allies on U.S. or Soviet soil.
