How do they get the sunflower seeds from out of the shell? By hand it would take way too long, What's the secret???

I think manufacturer send the seeds to China since labor is cheap and they hull the seeds there. :-)

Seriously, the seed are probably sent through rollers that are set to crush the shells, but allows the nut to pass through. Afterwards it probably goes through some type of tumbler further loosen the hull and onto filtering screens (or blowers) to separate the seed from the shell.

They use specially trained Siamese Chipmunks.
