i am not concerned with the effects of religion on a non-existent afterlife. i am concerned with what can happen if religion poisons the public sector in THIS life. as the prayer goes "lord, please protect me from your followers"

you clearly didn't read the link. the "city thing" here was resolved by a POPULAR vote, and 55% of the citys people voted to DISALLOW the display on PUBLIC property. the people have spoken. why do you want to infringe on the popular will? i wish many of you could "go back" to living in an old black and white movie.

thanks for sharing your very Christian message, and disgusting bigorty. its even more telling if you are in fact a minister as you claim to be. you are exactly the kind of fascist fundie that has been the death of many free societies. if people like you had your way, it would only be proof that there is in fact no god.

As a Christian, I am very unconfortable with the government sanctioning anything religious - indeed, just about any country where religion is a governmental office is where you'll find the religion diluted or a source of political power. The reason religion flows so freely and with such great numbers in America is because of the freedom, a freedom only won by government getting out of the way. Christianity doesn't need public displays to grow and be relevant. Early Christians were killed by the governments, yet the church still grew. In the end, it will be a comparison of idea and faith rather than that of mindless public symbols.

I think it is only fair to build the foot baths for the Muslim religious. It is part of our freedom of religion, however Muslims and atheist are getting the better deal here. Everybody is going out of their way to help the Muslims/atheist while Jewish/Christianity is being thrown down the toilet. If government property has a sign of David on it whoever put it there was most probably Jewish, why not display what they believe in? Being a Christian myself I cannot understand why atheist are offended by public religious displays. I am not offended when the do not say God in the Pledge of Allegiance, or when they do not bow their heads for prayer. Everybody has their own beliefs. We live in a country with freedom to believe in what we want to. Respect that right and quit whining whenever you see a star or a cross, nativity scene, foot baths, statue of Buddha, etc. And just be happy you live in a country where you have the right to choose what you want to believe in.

It is a crying shame, and a disgrace ! Christ Jesus has as much right to be on the public square as anyone. The Communists in the Unamerican Civil Liberties Union want to remove from Christians the right to be seen, and heard. Where were they when a Church was desecrated in San Fagcisco ?
Minister

I think the secular progressives in this country are hypocrites. You all lobby for the foot baths in airports for Muslims, which are 100% related to religion, but you balk at the idea of seeing a cross or nativity scene anywhere. It amazes me how much SPs despise Christians. Please explain who you have a problem with a person believing that their soul will go to heaven when they die. If us Christians are wrong, we will end up in the same place you do. Why are you so concerned about it?

The WASHINGTON MONUMENT is a religious phallic symbol as is the DOME on the roof of the Capitol, and the Vaitcan. The layout of Washington D.C. is a Pentagram, the 'sacred' owl is the layout around the White house, and is on the dollar bill along with other masonic religious symbols, so SURE get rid of it.

No they don't.

jesussaves:
If Jesus is in our hearts, why do we need these symbols at all?
Or are you just the typical fundie that will not be content until we've replaced our national symbols and monuments with crosses?

They belong at church. Respectful and mindful of all others views and religions. All religions consider themselves the only ones and the right ones at best.

We are a nation of freedom, freedom to worship where and how we want to. Let's keep it that way. Lets respect our forefathers and what they gave us - FREEDOM!

As long as they're the ornaments and symbols of religions no longer practiced (e.g.; the Olympian gods of Greek mythology), I have no problem with it.
