Not really.
In private prayer, you can use whatever postion most helps your prayer. You can:
+ Stand with hands uplifted and open, looking up with eyes open. This is the oldest posture for prayer. It is called the orans position, from the Latin word for praying.
I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer… (1 Timothy 2:8)
After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed. (John 17:1)
+ Stand with hands clasped at the waist, head bowed, and eyes averted or closed.
But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ (Luke 18:13)
+ Kneel, either with the head up, eyes open, hands open, or with head down, eyes closed, and hands clasped. Kneeling shows simple humility and submission.
The servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Be patient with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’ The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt, and let him go. (Matthew 18:26)
After withdrawing about a stone's throw from them and kneeling, he prayed, saying, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me; still, not my will but yours be done." (Luke 22-41-42)
+ Sit, head down, eyes averted or closed, and hands clasped.
Then King David went in and sat before the LORD and said, "Who am I, Lord GOD, and who are the members of my house, that you have brought me to this point? (2 Samuel 7:18)

There is no right or wrong way for Christian/Catholics to hold their hands while praying alone. I usually pray with my hands together with my fingers pointing up, sometimes folded hands with the fingers interlocking, sometime with a rosary in my hand counting prayers with beads, and sometimes with my hands on the steering wheel as I drive.

I don't generally hold my hands together while praying. When I'm alone, I talk to God like a friend and putting my hands together is something I'm almost sure I have never done while talking with a friend. When my family and I pray before meals, we hold hands.Prayer doesn't have to be a formal process, in fact, it is better when it isn't!

I'm a Christian, there is no particular way that you are supposed to hold your hands while you pray. As long as you pray-that's the most important thing.

You can --
hold your hands folded together,
raise your hands with palms uplifted,
rest your hands in your lap,
pray while your hands are doing something else (like driving) ...
It's not important what your hands are doing. Just your heart.
Little children are taught to fold their hands in prayer as a respectful and reverent habit to remind them that they're talking to God. Adults presumably don't always need the reminder. So feel free to adopt any posture that is meaningful to you.

Holding hands together isn't necessary for prayer. God will hear you no matter where your hands are.
And catholics are not saved, because catholics believe a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1).

You don't even have to hold your hands. Just say what you need to say.
You don't even have to speak, actually... :-)
