They are always saying we are oppressed. I love my Lord, my religion and my Prophet more than my own life. It is my mind and my choice.
Why don't you just leave us alone???

damn right sister
we are not told to wear the scarf/hijab by men we ahve been ordered by god.but in the quran before women have been told to cover up men have been told to lower their gaze first and also dress accordingly.

im a british born muslim who wears my hijab proudly and if poeple dont understand why we wear it why dont you ask us instead of being rude why dont you do somee reaserch
what really bugs me is when you get some ignorant poeple telling you to go back to where you came from its baffling as im from uk born heree raised here and last time i looked i have evey right to wear my scarf just as the lady next door is allowed to wear her mini skirt.

we are not opressed we just love our religion and if other poeple followed their religion maybe this world wouldnt be so fu**ed up.

when was the last time anybody saw a picture of the virgin mary wearing a bikini

how come christain nuns are seen as good poeple but yet us hijabis are seen as terrorists

when are poeple going to get it in their head that islam is against terrorism:and why do we have to keep justifying ourselves

Dont let the narrow-minded get you down, you yourself should KNOW better..if people want to think that way, then let them..I've always blamed the media in how muslim women in particular are portrayed to the rest of the world as miserable oppressed creatures,,they take the example from the one country and think ALLLL the women are treated like that..look else-where, where there are other Muslim women throughtout the world and not just certain parts of say Saudi Arabia, where her basic right is denied by a MAN-MADE law, and only THEN compare it to the other Muslim women from around the world...all i can say..Emily Pankhurst along with her Suffrogettes had to FIGHT for a womans basic right during the early 1900 here in the West...Muslim women had those very basic rights centuries ago, even though in TODAY'S society, its Man who chooses to take away her right by implementing man-made laws to control the female..how sad.

Chin up Sister..both you and I are not oppressed at all, i know my rights and where I stand..be happy and dont let the minority get you down.

Peace xxx

pass to India and to the main inexpensive brothels. Its a fact that as Muslims dont combine and dont learn, they have ghettos in each and every Indian city that are next to the railway stations and brothels. You'' locate various Muslim women people there

It's because we don't understand. Nothing more than that.

We find it hard to understand why women should be happy to be subordinate to men, also the notion that you should have your throat slit by your male relatives for infidelity is just a bit strong for us to accept. We also don't understand the whole clothing arrangement (even though it is really no different to the ultra conservative attitude of women in Victorian Britain)

That's all. We obviously are very different, and I'm truly sorry that you feel you are being picked on for having different beliefs.

in response to someones question

their is a difference between having the SAME rights and having EQUAL rights

for example, a women is entitled to three quaters of her childs love, while a man is entitled to the remaining quater

and muslim men are supposed to dress modestly as well..they arent supposed to wear shorts above the knee around women and they arent allowed to go bare chested around women either....

Just ignore them..we know that we are not suppressed or oppressed in any way, and that is good enough for me..i feel sorry for those people who can be so narrow-minded enough to judge us by our religion..i can't change the way they think..i can however change the way i give in to their comments, and that's the way i like to see it..i've control of my life, not they..so, just turn a deaf ear, as you see them blabber nonsense about how we muslimahs are "brainwashed" and "ignorant"(look who's talking!)..

Most of what people know about Islam comes from a very biased media that emphasizes culture practices, insisting they are actually religious in nature. As I learned about Islam, I realized that most of what I thought was truth was actually completely inaccurate. I would never have reverted to Islam if what the media portrays is the truth. Stay strong, Sister.

I think what really bothers them is actually oppression. Despite what you say, people don't like to think of the fact that women in the Middle East are being stoned, tortured for speaking out, forced to wear burkas, forced to be accompanied by men outside of the house, and forbidden to drive. I understand that you love your Lord, but what certain fundamentalists are doing is portraying Islam in a VERY negative way. God bless.

If it's true that you are not oppressed, why should it bother you that some people claim that you are oppressed? I know that I am not stupid, so if someone calls me stupid, it doesn't bother me--I ignore it. Can't you do the same when people claim that you are oppressed? The only reason it should bother you to be called oppressed is if it's true.
