I keep noting the same thing being said here. That one CANNOT believe that Jesus lived and be a witch. I see it from all sides.

How is it in the past 14 years, since I began the study of my craft, have I only found respected authors supporting Jesus? Citing examples of the great works Jesus did, how by definition, he holds the title of witch. How the God chose His priestess to carry child. How this child would walk in love and light, a healer, a prophet, a child of a blessed union.

So again I ask, why can't a witch believe in Jesus. Is it because by doing so, this witch becomes a Christian? (Someone who believes in Christ.)

I am a witch and I believe in Jesus. Not as a savior but as a person, teacher and perhaps even a prophet. But I believe he existed. Believing in a person named Jesus is not the same as believing in Christ. Thus it does not make me a Christian any more than acknowledging the existence of Buddha makes me Buddhist (even tho I do follow Buddhist philosophy)

There are Christian Witches. There's nothing that says you can't be both. If you're meaning Wiccans, that's another story. Wiccans may believe that Jesus existed, but they believe in him in a Christian context (Son of a monotheistic god needed for salvation). Few recognise him as a god, and IMHO no Wiccan should worship him, because if you worship someone you should listen to him, and Jesus preached monotheism, which Wicca is not. You either trust him or you don't.

However, making up your own version of Jesus to believe in does not mean you are believing in the Jesus of Christianity. There is no historical reason to call Mary a priestess, and the concept is absurd to both Judaism and Christianity. And he didn't come from "the God." He came from God. It's a distinct religious concept. The fact that Christians were uncreative is his name doesn't mean you can just swap him out for other uncreatively named concepts. "The God" of Wicca and the Christian God are not the same in concept, mythology or anything other way I can think of comparing them. You can't just squash two beings together and expect people to think it's sound theology.

It's not that Wiccans aren't allowed to believe in Jesus. It just doesn't make sense for them to.

I believe he exitisted. I do NOT believe he was divine.
Christian is no someone who believes in Christ. A Christian is one who accepts Jesus was the son of GOD and accepts him as thier savior. THAT is a Christian. And THAT is not what my path believes. And niether do I.
I think a Christian Witch is a contradiction but hey that's just me. The Hebrew god states you will put no god before him, so that means it's just him. That's monotheism, which is fine, but hard to fall under the pagan realm. At the same time, it's not like there are rules to paganism. That is something that people have to come to on thier own.

The Wiccan and pagan traditions lack the equivalent of a "Bible" and therefore a list of dos and don'ts. The only Wiccan "rule" is: "An' it harm none, do as ye will." There is no harm in believing in Jesus, so there is no Wiccan prohibition. Pagans tend to honor the diety in their presence, so if they feel the power of the sea, they may thank Ulmo. If they feel Jesus in their heart, they may thank him. Most pagans and Wiccans have no problem with Jesus, it is the people who came after and want to explain what Jesus REALLY meant to say that we have issue with. If Jesus was all that, we should not need another person to explain. Believing Jesus existed does not make one Christian, one must "accept him as your personal savior" according to the doctrines of my childhood.

Pagans/Wiccans/etc are "allowed" to believe anything they want. There are some groups that call themselves Christian Wiccans. Many pagans/wiccans scoff at this, since christianity is against witchcraft, however, one of my elders explained it best to me. She said, "You follow the Greek Pantheon, others we know follow the Egyptian or Celtic Pantheons. Isn't Christianity yet another Pantheon? "

So you see, Wiccans can choose the Christian Pantheon and worship Jesus if they choose. However, many Pagans/Wiccans believe that Jesus was a druid priest and therefore, a witch himself.

There is lots of room for heated arguments over these two statements. However, I'm not going to debate the validity of the beliefs, I am only refuting your belief that Pagans/Wiccans are NOT ALLOWED to believe in Jesus. That is simply not true. We do not have a religious doctrine or leader to tell us what to believe in or not to believe in. We get to choose what our hearts believe.

The problem is largely one of semantics and is rooted in monotheistic versus polytheistic viewpoints.

It is possible to be pagan and honor Jesus if you perceive him as one Power among the very many worshiped by various cultures around the globe. From a purely objective standpoint, why should any one set of tribal beliefs (in this case, the mideast "Yahweh" camp) have precedence over any other?

From the Christian perspective, there is and can be only One Power. Everything else is condemned as error, falsehood, and/or deception by evil.

It's nonsense. Each culture should follow their own indigenous folk traditions, in my opinion.

It is not that i am not allowed to believe in jesus, in fact i do believe that jesus existed. I think he was a great man with a great message, if only those who claimed to follow his ways would do so more accurately.
I do not believe in the divinity of jesus. I do not believe in the christian faith. Theirs is the only one that claims to be the only way and disrespects and does not validate others beliefs.

just my humble pagan thoughts...

Anyone can believe in anything. You cannot believe that Jesus is anything other than our Savior who died on the cross for our sins, if you don't want to enter Hell, according to the Bible. I suggest you study the Bible's claims and historicity. You can start here: www.godsaidmansaid.com

You can believe in Jesus, but God has much to say about witchcraft...he hates it! You have to choose one or the other.

Here is what God says:

Galatians 519Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Believing in Jesus isn’t just a statement. It’s an understanding of what he did as our savior. How we should live our lives. The Holy Spirit which is a part of God can not commune with a person who blatantly denies God’s word.

If you perform the LBRP, then you are invoking the power of the Almighty, which is in my opinion, the same as the Xtian God, but they refuse to admit this. Ever been to a Botanica? It is a Hispanic Catholic herbal and candle shop. You can believe in whatever you want.
