No. This does not sound like cancer.

The current improvement suggests, to me that the problem is something else, but without more information it is impossible to say what that might be.

Most problems with the gut are made worse by smoking, so any attempt to cut back or quit may help prevent a re-occurrence and would reduce the risk of developing cancer in the future

My suggestion is to stay with your concerns and get your doctor to do some specific tests to rule out your worry. Have you had a colonoscopy, ultrasound, etc? Don't be afraid to insist on a full workup to alleviate your anxiety. When we get to mid life we begin to worry and sometimes rightly so. It's the time we should take our health seriously and get full medical workups. Recently I felt very concerned about a host of symptoms that I thought might be ovarian cancer. I went through an full and extensive battery of tests and now feel much better because it proved to be nothing more than changes due to menopause. At the same time I realized I was worried about some subtle symptoms involving my heart. I had a lot of tests for cardiac circulation and found nothing. Trust you instincts and follow through with a caring physician to get the tests you need. Good luck!

Doesn't really sound like stomach cancer or duodenal cancer (rare as hen's teeth ... no ... RARER than hen's teeth). I would have expected more abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Perhaps vomiting blood or faeces turning dark, sticky and tarry.

Whatever it is, it sounds like he's getting a bit better.

Hang out for the blood tests. I hope the GP has checked the coumadin level (INR) as well.

It could have been or could still be an infection lurking about. Just probably not lung/chest infection.

Are you talking about "him" or yourself.? It is impossible to speculate on such a question, you should await the results of any tests, but do remember imagination can be very worrying when allowed to run wild Calm down until you have some positive results.
