18 "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

SOLA RANT:
You people who are saying that James was right about not being saved by faith alone are completely wrong. You are very religious people, like the Pharisees were religious people. You are also IGNORING Jesus, Paul, and Peter. JAMES WAS WRONG AND A VERY RELIGIOUS PERSON AS WELL!

Callen,
It is a daily miracle under everyone's nose that we can understand scripture. We all have much to learn, if only we spend time in God's word.

It is also a miracle that we ever came to god. Because there is no way we would ever want to unless it was the Father's will, and the Spirit's comfort, and the sacrifice of Jesus. We are so blessed!

If you believe that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose again, then you will be saved and filled with the Holy Spirit.

Salvation is by faith alone in this about Jesus without any works, according to the Bible.

What is the 'Holy Spirit'?
What does that mean?
Does it mean we have the right Theology? The right idea about God?
Does it mean we get a warm gooey feeling about ourselves and others?
Does it mean we get a kind of Cosmic Endorsement? A ticket to Heaven?

I think we should think of it in terms of Prophecy. In the Old Testament, when people were touched by the Spirit of God they did amazing things. These people were recognized as prophets by their peers. These were the extraordinary Men and Women of God whose connection to God was powerfully demonstrated by their penetrating insight and awesome deeds. But more than that, for the prophet it meant a direct connection to the Spirit of God, which was what they lived for. There must have been some reason why these people in the Old and New Testament were willing to risk everything to connect with God. There must have been something that made suffering and death for the Truth worth-while.
I think maybe it was Vision. That's what happens to Prophets, they receive Vision, a vision from God that lifts them out of themselves, gives them new understanding about who they are and who God is, and most of all gives them the confidence to know that this life is not the end, and that the turmoil of the world will eventually end with God's victory, and that He has made a place for us with Him in Eternity.
I personally have not had any great visions of the future or worked any miracles. But I have been given a Vision of who God is, and who I am in Him. This vision has come over time, it has come largely through the Scripture, but also through prayer, and through my experiences, and it grows stronger every day.
I think we need to realize as Christians that we were saved for a reason, not only for our sake but for the world, and that God's Cause which began thousands of years ago with Avraham is still at work in us, and that we can be a part of His noble eternal kingdom, a kingdom without walls, without weapons, without real estate, and without end.

Here you have the cart before the horse. A person must be Spiritually born "before" they are able to think, say, or do things Spiritually, as they are in Christ. An elect person of GOD has the Spirit of Christ within "before" they know it (does a naturally born baby know when it was naturally born?). There is only one salvation but is consists of 3 basis elements: GOD determined before the foundation of the world to "save" HIS people; HE calls them here in this time world to the truth as it is in Christ and this "saves" them from this untoward generation because of the active and passive obedience of HIS Son while HE was upon this earth; and HE will eternally "save" them to heaven and immortal glory. Within this context I find no plural of save, i.e., save does not have an "s" at the end.

You aren't saved just by believing. This is the manmade doctrine of Sola Fide or "faith alone."

The only place in the bible where the words "faith alone" are used is when St. James very clearly tells us we are NOT saved that way:

James 2:24 reads "a man is justified by works and not by faith alone."

Our own works can never justify us, but works that grow out of faith in Christ are part of our justification and our salvation.

First of all, you are not saved simply by believing. The book of James clearly states we are NOT saved by faith alone.

"You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone." James 2:24

"Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" (Phil. 2:12).

Secondly, yes a believer becomes a habitation of the Holy Ghost who continues the work of sanctification throughout the believer's life. The Holy Spirit teaches us and is our advocate against sin.

"My little children, I am writing this to you so that you may not sin; but if any one does sin, we have an Advocate [paraclete...Holy Spirit] with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous" 1 John 2:1

The Holy Spirit dwells within the Christian to guide and empower each one (Rom. 8:9, 1Cor. 6:19).

Pax Vobiscum+

Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Hope that helps.
