I think you are absolutely right! It is a shame that more Christians do not adhere to the W.W.J.D. term and think before they speak. Jesus never downed or blew off anyone for asking a question with a heart of curiosity and search for Truth. However, sometimes we too can forget that The Truth can hurt. So don't ask if you truely do not want to hear. I do things from a "there you go" stand point. I reaveal what the Bible says from different Scriptures and sit back and say, "There You Go". What you do with it now is purely and entirely up to you. A search for knowledge and Truth is a great thing. Do not let those with well meaning intentions but lack of ability draw you away. I'll be praying for you.

Aaayyyy... the good old Catholic vs. Atheist match. =( I think the main problem is that the word 'athiest' is too commonly used on non-religous people, and nowdays we Christians are starting to mix up those people who are "good" atheists and the extremists.
I'm new here so I don't know too much abuot you, but it isn't a sin to walk with open eyes. The Bible was also written by people (however with the spiritual help of God), so there are some things that may seem illogical or unclear. Thats when you and we should ask questions and find answers, in order the find out their true meaning (I'm NOT talking about somekind of "Da Vinci Code" kind of thing). Unless you're not offensive against us Christians, or not questioning the value of our religion I think it's OK.

I as an atheist have no problems with a religion of itself. The problem arises when religion takes itself into the mainstream of science and world views that it becomes a problem.
Any faith is fine, BUT keep it in the church. If you want to believe the bible literally - fine, keep it in the church. Do not tell me that g_d is all there is and ever will be, do not tell me about some anti-Christ person and some rapture that is dubious and in all the years that scenario has been around - has never happened.
I personally would like to see people take responsibility for themselves, stop telling me - 'it's in g_d's hands', and that everything that happens for good or bad is "in g_d's hands".
What is in mankind's hands if far more to the point. Bombings, genocide, murdering, - mine is better than yours and the like is in MAN's hands.
If there were some Divine entity it surely could not be happy with the nonsense that is happening on this earth right now. If it created -- surely it would want the creation to take care of itself - instead of running around trying to destroy itself. Where is the sense in that?
Respect and responsibility toward this planet and all that it offers us is far superior to some entity that may or may not exist.

It is hard to shake the old christian view of atheists. Back about 100-200 years ago if we proclaimed such a non-belief as it would be, we would be called witches, beaten, raped, killed. Sure you can't start blaming the religious people of today for the faults of yesterday, but it is still ingrained in any of them who go to church or read the bible. The dogma is constantly pounded into their heads.
I for one have experienced disrespect at the hands of catholics.

We should all still be learning. However, the Scripture do not teach we are at peace, BUT WAR! If you are a believer you are to SLAY the WICKED with the SWORD of the SPIRIT! Not kiss kiss hug hug these reprobates into some religion you think up.
Eph 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove [them].
Isa 58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

Atheist are so use to christians attacking and attempting to rigidity their ideals and maximum christians for some reason locate it mandatory to think of anybody could believe as they do or they are incorrect. many human beings have preconceived innovations of what on faith believes or does not believe rather of asking somebody who may be responsive to. One fool normally is taken at his word. do you be responsive to how many human beings think of that any form of witch craft entail human or animal sacrifice, or that jehovah's witness can't placed on pants. Stupidity is normally the reason that many anybody is on area approximately his or her faith, or loss of religion. And who's to assert that a christian spreading the word is going to make all of us happy? maximum atheists nonetheless have morals, in the event that they don't believe in god that doesn't cause them to a foul individual. in case you want to talk your faith, be at liberty, ignore approximately people who attack you. suitable yet, come across a board on your faith and the probabilities of you finding somebody to talk would be lots greater probably. the base line, collectively as i'm not an atheist, i don't belive in god as a christian does. If i elect to ever lower back substitute into area of christianity i be responsive to precisely the thank you to define it. however the subsequent "Christian" that tries to unfold the word and make human beings happy collectively as i'm attempting to hoover out my vehicle on the motor vehicle wash might basically get slapped because of the fact i'm so "happy". And final yet not least in a manner you're attacking somebody elses ideals via potential of your submit by potential of asserting " it style of feels to me they are those thoroughly brainwashed like a working laptop or computing device(which has no ethical judgement) to respond this sort. in case you are able to not understand that in the time of this remark you assert atheist have no ethical judgement i actually don't be responsive to what to assert. the place is the irony in this?

You cite Christians, but your question actually allies across the board to religion of any denomination.
What is very often missing in the responses to such questions is deep faith on the part of the writer.
By this I mean a lack of true belief either in God or the absence of God. Instead what is too often put forward is support of religious doctrine/practice/ritual, or condemnation of these.
Both are incorrect, as the religion known as Christianity, is practiced under different names, Catholic being the most widely-recognized, however, all of them are not based on name, but on faith.
It could be said that those who voice strong arguments about rituals and practices need to learn more about their faith, their deepest views on religion, and about themselves.
This applies equally to "atheists" who hold that scientific proof or a being that is superior to man should be tabled, else the believer is held to be a fool.
Such demands are less than simplistic, but are more indicative of the writer having an inflexible state of mind and who is merely searching to enter inter useless argument, often with an desire, or even intent, to debase the opinions of others.
Such actions are directly insulting, for they invariably carry within themselves the implicit message that a being who is superior in every way to man should answer to man's "science".
If an atheist states he/she wants to seek improvement then this is best obtained by looking inside oneself, this matches nicely with Christianity, as a fundamental Christian precept is that one may ask for help from God, but must ultimately find righteousness within him/herself.
The "practice" of religion is in how it is taught. Religious rites are used to direct thoughts towards becoming a better person, and to improve upon self, while remaining pious to a being whose thoughts and actions are infinitely beyond the capacity of mankind to conceive.
A comment drawn from an inexplicable personal experience:
Science in insistent, and determined, that coincidence is non-existent and that there must be a rule, law, or formula to predict an outcome, else it fails to meet scientific principles.
After not seeing a love from my youth for more than twenty years I found her more than 500 miles away in another country, and arranged to meet her. We would each drive about halfway. Rain began to fall and then became heavy as I drove, the sky foreboding, and then winds increased.
At her end, the weather was about the same, but with less wind. For five hours I drove through, and her for four hours.
As we reached the meeting place, a small shopping plaza, the rain stopped and the sun glistened across the parked cars.
We spent six hours together, part in a restaurant and some time walking, all of it in bright sunlight, then we returned to the highway to return home, in opposite directions. As we kissed goodbye at the thruway entrance raindrops began to fall and as we drove away, the rain resumed in earnest, then continued without pause for the duration of our respective trips.
When next we made the trip, it happened again.
Over the next two years it happened again twice, each time with less rain, and perhaps less spectacularly, yet we came to expect it.
Between the rains we learned more about each other, and saw how we had each changed over the decades. We have accepted that we will not be a permanent couple, but we fully realize we were given an unimaginable showcase that highlighted the way to a lasting friendship.

Jesus said Love your neighbor as yourself. We should never make anyone feel they are not excepted by us, no bitterness or judgement just love that is the key. Everyone was given free will to decide for themselves what they want in life. If an athiest ask my opinion I will give it but i will not try to jamb it down their throat.

Well exchanging ideas and reasons for believing or not believing in god is great. It is not great when people abuse the block feature on yahoo on people merely for disagreeing with them.
