God didn't have to say words.
I will tell you something about the Bible, and you probably won't believe me:
But whether you choose to believe in God or you do not, the Bible is a big part of life. It teaches morals. But guess what else? Most of the stuff mentioned in the Bible... did not happen. They are stories. And though I do not doubt God, we must someday (soon hopefully) realize that the Bible shouldn't be taken literally...

The very first thing that the bible records God saying is "Let there be Light."
As for the universe he said, " Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years"
