Abstinence makes the most sense but it is not the only way to heaven. Seeing this is the Religion & Spirituality section then what ones religion says does play a role. I will make this brief but books can be written about this subject. Simple stated, the act of having sex in childhood has produced so many problems that abstinence would be the better thing to do. To tempt children into have sex is just not logical and makes know sense at all. For example, Maine has laws on the books stating that it is illegal for children under 14 to have sex. Why would a school system there want to give 11 year old condoms and thus encourage them having sex. Those that find nothing wrong here find nothing wrong with child predators or any other deviant behavior. Peace

Well Monkeyballs, you are a little misguided, who says abstinance is the only way into heaven?
People were having sex way befoer Christianity was invented, way before the Bible you live your life by was written. They will continue to do so, so schools do right by providing education and protection for the young.
Wake up and see the light, brother.

Most people are influenced by society. More and more, society defines expression of love/affection/passion by physical intimacy. Such that, even if a couple start out by agreeing to no sexual intercourse, their subconscious mind is already altered by societal norms...so the closer they get, the more they feel the need to climb higher on the ladder of physical intimacy.
Think about it, its in the movies we watch and love, its on the sitcoms we watch and love, its in the music we listen to, sing and love...in the end, it ends up deep in our psyche...it takes a lot more than preaching abstinence to change it.
Mindsets and paradigm shifts have to occur for lasting change to take place.

"Abstinence is the ONLY way to heaven."
I guess good deeds and such have nothing to do with getting into your heaven huh. If you're so critical about following the bible, then you shouldn't cut/trim your facial hair and don't forget to stone all the homosexuals.

Because everyone who is human in the world are sinners. Since they are sinners they are going to do the wrong thing. They will continue to do the wrong thing until they convince themselves that they are just doing what everyone else is doing. They excuse themselves, and then if what they do hurts someone else, they are sorry, but will do it again. If they end up hurting themselves by what they do, they blame other people.
Abstinence is not a way to heaven. You don't get to heaven by not doing something. You are confusing morality with righteousness. They are different. Righteousness come by faith in God through Jesus Christ. Morals are what people might convince they are, but not to God! We are immoral no matter how much we try, you really need to read the Bible if you want to know these things!

Hey Moses...the abstinence thing is not working. In fact, more kids are having sex than ever before. In a recent poll conducted after the Bush administration allocated funds to abstinence training, 43% of teen girls have engaged in anal sex and a whopping 86% in oral sex. You think sex is evil?? You need to get layed my friend! I say keep dishing out the condoms and enjoy yourself.

Hi there, now let me try.
You ask why people can't wait before they have sexual intercouse? The answer is quite simple and is called LUST.
You see LOVE can WAIT whilst LUST CANNOT.
Take note of the following:-
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor. 6:9,10, NASB).
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God (Gal. 5:19-21).
You are a fornicator, (a person have a sexual relationship out side of marriage then obviously you did no abstain from having a sexual relationships and was driven by LUST.
Take Care

There is this thing called "free will" that we all utilize. You have some people who will wait and others who wont. Plus temptation is a "mutha". Many of us just aren't strong enough to fight it. We see what we want right now instead of what will become later down the road. My opinion about the schools making protection available is not to suggest that you do it...but for those who may be into it or thinking about it to be perpared to avoid an unplanned pregnacy. But people are going to do what they want. Whether they go to hell in a hand basket or not!

You forgot about the separation of church and state.
People that are going to have sex, will do so with or with out a condom.
You are Nothing but a Hypocrite. God approves of the man who admits that he is a sinner. He looks down on people like you who DO NOT humble themselves and belittle others for personal gain.
I will pray that you get everything that you deserve.

Simple. Sex is natural. Belief is not.
Faith is a human characteristic. Everybody has faith in somethng or another - doesn't have to be a religion... However FAITH in a religious BELIEF is a learned behavior.
Headlines today in YahooNews reports that abstinence education doesn't lower teen pregnancy. Well, duhhh. Not having sex can cause some pretty severe psychological problems. Sex and having babies for better or worse, is very natural. Abstaining from sex can make you sick.
