The word 'name' can mean 'power and authority' as well. The power and authority, or name, is carried by this FALSE MESSIAH, and that name is JESUS.

The actual Messiah's name is Yahshua, as prophecied.

Some things you're gonna have to wait for, and some things you're never gonna know. Why not, because God doesn't tell us everything, only the things that we NEED to know.

For example, when the disciples asked the Lord Jesus 'is it at this time that you will restore the kingdom to Israel?' (Acts 1:6) they were asking outside their remit. You can't blame them for asking, though - they were Jews! Actually, by telling them that they had other things to do rather than be involved in restoring the kingdom to Israel, in effect he said 'no, because it's not time yet'.

Nowadays, the End Times scriptures are being understood more and more as each generation succeeds another and they see scripture being fulfilled when it wasn't before. However, some details are yet to be revealed and, I have to say, as one who has thought this thing over many times, we cannot and will not know until it has been released to us from heaven.

When will that be and why can't we know now? I think that it is up to people to figure out who the antichrist is when he actually appears on the world scene. The true Christians will know, believe me, because they will be looking out - that's if the Rapture doesn't occur first. And, if it does occur first (and many Christians say we'll never see the antichrist) well, I reckon God will be leaving the remaining people to cope with the knowledge they already have. In Christ, he did offer them help, but they refused it, so sadly they'll be at disadvantage in recognising the antichrist when he comes.

We have no-one on the scene today who currently fits the bill as to the identity of the antichrist, but when he does appear, I reckon that'll be the name that goes along with the 666, for the number is 'the number of his name' - ie. his identity. One day, people will indeed be able to count (add up) the number of his name and get an answer as to who the beast is. Just as for the disciples, that may not be a hill on our particular horizon as Christians.

However, there is some light on the number. Lots of people have thoughts on that, but I reckon it's a kind of numerological bar code set in a computer chip, with three sets of figures on it you can scan into to read, and from these three sets of 6 figures they can identify YOU, your identity, with your date of birth, where you were born, etc., out of the population of the whole world, because the mark of the beast is about identity and also about world control.

Hope that helps.

Trick Question; It is not known (yet?)...

"Let anyone with understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. Its number is six hundred sixty-six." (Revelation 13:18)

Thus the number of the Beast is the number of a man... the letters in his name will add up to 666.

The “name of the beast” is The God of This World (our natural selves).

The number '666' refers to nothing more or less than MONEY!

Look carefully at the actual text, and you will note that John did not write “666 (“six hundred threescore and six”) is the mark of the beast, nor did he say “666” is the number of the beast. He specifically and purposefully wrote that the number “666 corresponded to” the “number of the beast, which is the number of a man, and his number is six hundred threescore and six.” Neither did John say: “is the number of man (as in ‘mankind’),” but he specifically wrote: “is the number of a man,” meaning a particular man.
That particular man to whom John was pointing those who “hath understanding,” is Solomon. “His number” corresponds to “money,” as in the amount of “gold” he received in a one-year period:

Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold. (I Kings 10:14)

...There is not a person in this world that has not [ALREADY] received the “mark of the beast” in his or her “right hand”—not one! It is impossible to live in this world without being affected in some way by commercialism, money, or the economic structures set up by the societies of the earth. Jewish custom taught that what one does with one’s “right hand” is a reflection of the actions one makes in his daily life. What one thinks and focuses upon, is represented by a “mark” in the “forehead.”

The greatest portion of our waking hours are spent in pursuit (“mark in right hand”) of the lifestyle (“the image of the beast”) we have imagined in our minds (“mark in their foreheads”) for our families and ourselves. Those who have the mark, or “seal of the Father in their forehead” think of others and how their actions affect the least among us, trying in every way possible to do unto others what they would want done unto them. Nevertheless, because “the beast has overcome the saints,” they too, have the “mark of the beast in their right hand.” They too are unable to live without it in a world which steadily revolves around the idea of doing whatever is necessary in order to assure a secure life for the individual and the family.
