What farad value capacitor should i get for a 1300 watt system?

0.5 Farad for every 500 watts
1300 watts, three 0.5 Farad caps or 1.5 Farad.

It's better to do a few smaller ones than one huge one, also $$$.

A cap is only good so far as the audio system isn't trying to pull too much from the electrical system. A cap doesn't provide more power, it's designed to 'stiffen' the voltage to the amp, nothing esle. If the current isn't there, a cap won't help. The alternator must have at least 20% more amperage power than the entire vehicle and sound system combined for a cap to be of benefit which is ironically the same requirements for an amp to be efficient.

If your total system power is 1000 watts RMS or more, you will need to:

1. Upgrade the alternator to a high output alternator
2. Upgrade to a heavy duty deep cycle battery
3. Upgrade the "Big 3" - that is to replace the power wire between the battery and alternator, the ground from the battery to the chassis and the ground strap from the engine/tranny to the chassis with at least 1/0 AWG wire.

Failure to do this will result in you replacing them anyway as the alternator will eventually fail.

Here is a guide that will calculate what size alternator and power wires you need http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php?file=6d26c621

It been a long time I worked with these. Normally I used them in the speaker array. Some speakers I build had a nice Crossover network. You can usually get them at Radio Shack. I do remember once I connected a mid-range speaker in a 2-way speaker system (Woofer and Tweeter). It did not use a crossover network, but, a capacitor (In-line I think) with the speakers to shunt the recommended frequencies to the desired speaker. But, in that situation the speakers come with the instructions for about 3 sizes of capacitor depending on sound preference.
So, the only real information I can offer, is, the speakers you use should have recommended sizes of capacitors on the Specifications. There should also be information on the Resonance of the speakers should a person want to build the speaker cabinet to resonance.

a one farad cap will do but since you went over 1000watts then a 2farad cap would be more appropriate
